“Tell me why we have to attend that stupid party again?” Hiromi asked annoyingly as she sits impatiently at the backseat of the limo with her cousin and her butler.
“Cause grandfather said so and he threatened to not make us come home this holiday if we won’t go,” Tetsuya said sounding annoyed as well. At least I’m not the only miserable one. Hiromi thought.
It’s going to be Christmas Holiday soon and as a reward, their grandfather agreed to send them home to Japan but only if they do everything he pleases until then and gets a high grade on their examinations.
“Tsk,” Kaoru can’t help but let out a sound as he gets more annoyed by the moment. Both Tetsuya and Hiromi looked at him confusingly. “Daijobo ga?” Hiromi asked worriedly. Kaoru woke back to reality then and acted calm again as he looked at Hiromi with a smile on his face and said, “Hai daijobo desu ojous-sama.”
He docked his head and the worries on his face became visible again. This is bad. Something’s not right; something bad is going to happen I can tell. My instincts are never wrong but what could it be? Better keep my guard up especially with these two here with me. Kaoru said as he stared at Hiromi and Tetsuya again who both looked back at him confusingly again. “Are you really sure you’re okay?” Tetsuya can’t help but ask as well, his concern evident on his face and Kaoru just smiled at him and answered, “Of course.”
After a few minutes of travel, they finally arrived in an Elizabethan like mansion somewhere in a little English village. It felt like it doesn’t fit there at all, being surrounded by little houses and businesses; it looked like it’s bragging about how big it was.
“It’s a sore eye in this cute little village,” Hiromi pointed out irritatingly as they were entering the mansion. One of the concierges gladly approached them then and led them to the grand ball room where the party is at.
“You’re grandfather and father is at the smoking room in case you’re wondering and please, enjoy the party. Master would feel most ashamed if you won’t,” the concierge said with a bow as he went back to work.
“Keh, nothing but a bunch of rich-ass dimwits in monkey suits and torture dresses showing each other how wealthy they are. Let’s show our faces to grandfather and leave this party quick,” Hiromi said getting more and more annoyed by the moment.
They were all making their way to the smoking room but then they were stopped on their tracks when an announcement was made.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the host of the party, Sir Edward La Voucher, the heir of the J- Dragon company,” the announcer said and the room was immediately filled with applause and “oohs” and “aahs” and “wows” as the man of the party himself strides his way in the crowd.
“J-Dragon? Wasn’t that company at the center of the sea oil buzz back in 2009?” Tetsuya asked curiously. “Yeah, they were in the middle of bankruptcy then until they discovered sea oil. They converted their company from gold mining to oil mining after that,” Hiromi said seriously and added, “But I didn’t come here for that. Let’s go see grandpa.”
“We’re here,” Hiromi announced plainly as they went inside the room and immediately joining their family.
“Good then, but you can’t stay here. This is a man’s lounge,” Mr. Kokubo pointed out as he drank a glass of rum.
