The bell of UA rung out among the student body, the final bell. The school day was over with and honestly, you couldn't have been happier. Not that you didn't like school, far from it. But working within the heroics course can get brutal sometimes. And honestly, a nice break from everyone is nice sometimes. So, after you packed up your bag, you walked over to the UA gyms to get some work done. Most of the time, they were pretty open after classes, which meant that you had more peace and quiet.
You entered Gym Gamma and smiled at seeing it completely open. You dropped your bag and cracked your neck a little as you walked out in the center of the gym. You stretched a little before you took a deep breath and released your quirk onto the ground around you. See, your quirk was Acid Breath. And needless to say, it was exactly as you named it. Hence why you had to wear a protective mask almost every single day.
So, once you got some work in with your power, you summoned up some villain bots and were ready to go to town on them. You cracked your knuckles and got ready to attack. However, as you were about to go at it, the doors to the gym opened up and you heard a sigh. You quickly turned around and saw it was your classmate, Kinoko Komori, better known as Shemage or sometimes, the Mushroom Girl. You have her a two-fingered salute and ran up to fight the bots.
You flipped over one and created acid down onto them, melting the armor plating. You landed, back stepped from one bot and breathed more acid into it, and punched right through it. You spun around the bot, grabbed its arm and threw it over yourself, and slammed it down onto the ground. You avoided another punch from a 1 point bot and breathed some more acid into it and kicked it this time. Once all the bots were down and out, you sighed, stood up straight, and placed your mask back onto your face. You heard a few claps and looked back to see Komori talking towards you.
Komori: So, this is where you got to every day?
(Y/N): Been wondering why?
Komori: You're the one who always disappears once Vlad lets us lose.
(Y/N): Fair point. Need something.
Komori: Wanted to do a few rounds. After that Joint training with Class 1-A, I need to step it up a bit more.
(Y/N): You guys did win though.
Komori: I could be better.
(Y/N): Whatever you say then. Just get in line.
Komori: Don't need to treat me like a kid. I can handle myself, you know.
You rolled your eyes and walked forward and activated a few more bots. Komori got her squirt guns ready as you walked back in front and readied yourself. A few more bots emerged and got into attack positions.
(Y/N): Ready?
Komori: I'm not a child. I know what I'm doing.
Once the bots became active, you both ran in. Like before, you flipped over the robots, sprayed acid onto them, and threw them around with some support gear to give you a boost in strength. Komori on the other hand was going nuts with her quirk. Being able to grow and control mushrooms could prove to be effective, to say the least.
Her quirk was able to trap some of the robots at different points, allowing her to go in and dismantle them a little. Her quirk also worked for a support system as you were able to run in and take out a few more bots. Honestly, it felt more like the UA Entrance exam. As the last bot was still stuck, you darted towards it to finish it off. It wasn't for a few seconds did you realized that Komori was running into the bot too. You both took off and soon enough, you both attacked both, acid and mushrooms covering the body.
You both stood up and you looked over to her.
(Y/N): That was mine.
Komori: Are you blind? That was clearly me!
(Y/N): I doubt that one highly!
Komori: Why you!
You two were about to go at it until the doors of the gym opened again. You both turned and glared at who it was only to stop when you saw it was Nezu himself with Midnight.
Midnight: What are you two doing here?
Komori: Last-minute training.
Nezu: OH my. Well, aren't you students certainly pushing yourselves to your limits. I am quite impressed. Especially since your victories in the Joint training session with 1-A. But now is not the time for you all to stress about getting more powerful. Please, enjoy the rest of your day today. We can work on accommodating afternoon training sessions tomorrow.
You nod in agreement and begin to walk off. Komori groaned a little and followed orders from Nezu. In a few short minutes, you and Komori were walking away from the campus of UA. She groaned a little and looked at you.
Komori: If you didn't hog the gym, I could have kept training!
(Y/N): Me? You came into the gym after me! There were 13 of them around campus! You could have used one of them!
Komori: It's a matter of principle!
(Y/N): Yeah, right.
Komori clenched her fist a little and began to walk away from you. You rolled your eyes and continued to walk from school as well. The following day, UA had allowed for more training time in the afternoon, to allow students to grow in their skillsets together. It was a nice benefit, especially if you and Komori were always butting heads and competing against one another in workouts. It was a bit of a friendly rivalry going on, but it was fun nonetheless. Especially when your classmates started taking bets on how much you guys could take down at once.
You had to admit, to you, that was pretty funny to do. It almost always would work in your favor as you had more of the combat-based quirk. Still, it was a little fun to compete a little against her. Maybe Komori saw it the same way, but you were never so certain. But still, you and Komori did start spending some more time together both on and off the field of battle, and...it was rather nice. Breaking down the tough attitude, she was actually a really nice and caring person underneath it all.
You two would hang out at lunch together, walk back to the station together and just have some classic fun. Slowly Komori became one of your best friends at UA. One day, you guys were in the middle of training, you were flipping over villain bots, spraying bots with your acid breath while Komori was using her mushrooms to form a barrier and quickly cut the shrooms down to crush the bots.
You slide along the ground and slowly got up to stand up straight. To tightened your gloves as Komori walked over to you. She had a bit of a smile on her face. When you saw her walking up to you, you returned the smile and nodded at her. You saw her eyes dart away from direct contact of yours. You didn't comment on it, rather you turned your entire body to face her. You cocked an eyebrow as she continued to look away from you.
(Y/N): Is everything ok?
Komori: Yeah. Fine. Why do you ask?
(Y/N): You just seem rather quiet right now. Normally, it would be a sassy comment about my fighting style or something like that.
Komori: Yeah, guess so.
(Y/N): Seriously, what's up?
Komori: I guess I just...I...
(Y/N): Komori? What is it?
Komori blushed heavily. You slowly came to the realization as well. You held up two fingers and slowly pushed them closer to one another, silently asking and confirming what she was trying to say. Komori nodded and you slowly lowered your arms and looked at her. You were in shock, but not a negative shock and awe. Just...surprised was all. You placed your hand on her shoulder and got her to look up at you. You took in a deep breath and pecked her on the cheek with a quick kiss.
Her blush only deepened as you smiled down at her. You gave her a quick two-finger salute and began to walk away. Because of your quirk, you could kiss her outright, but still, it was nice to know that the mushroom girl still had a heart.
