You and Yang Xiao Long had been dating for nearly five years now, ever since meeting one another midway through your time at Beacon to finally getting together with one another by the beginning of your final year at the school. Since then, life had been really peaceful. You two had run missions together, began to conduct counter operations against street gangs and and other thugs and threats. You two also had stayed in contact with your old teammates and other friends ranging from now SDC President Weiss Schnee to a simple huntsman and huntress couple, Lie Ren and Nora Ren.
You and Yang had moved into a nice home on the island of Patch together and continued to conduct different jobs with one another. You began to teach at Signal Academy, deciding that history would be subject to teach. It was also relatively easy to make interesting by doing some comparing and contrasting between then and modern times. Yang began to run missions around the kingdom as a means of supporting the house and all the finances that come with it.
The two of you lived comfortable lives with one another and continued to have a swell life. As it stood, it was a Friday morning and everything seemed to be all ok. You gave a small yawn and woke up. After getting your morning shower and getting your (F/C) jacket and got a dress shirt and pants on and came down stairs. You smiled at seeing Yang making breakfast, then again, she always brought a smile to your face. You walked over to her and kissed her. Yang then turned towards you and gave you a morning kiss.
Yang: Sleep well?
(Y/N): Surprisingly, yes. You?
Yang: Had better. Anything interesting happening today at school?
(Y/N): Eh, not much. Just giving the kids a test today that's all.
Yang: You going to be spending the weekend grading those things?
(Y/N): No. I'll start during the planning period and then after-hours. The second I get home, it's just you and me, baby.
Yang smirked and kissed your cheek.
Yang: I like the sound of that. Now shut up and eat up, Mr. Teacher. Or have I been a bad girl?
(Y/N): Ok, ok. Don't say that. It gets weird especially since I actually am a teacher with female students.
Yang: None like this though? Right?
(Y/N): Hey, you may be 26, but I swear to God you still look like your 16.
Yang: Good answer. (Kisses you again) Now get to work.
After breakfast, you got your backpack and briefcase that held your weapon inside. Driving to Signal wasn't so bad, outside of traffic and the minor weather conditions, the road itself was very smooth. After getting to the school, you walked into your building and began to set up for the day. Getting all the test together, checking them over and making small marks on your agenda for the day.
You pulled up a few articles to see what in the world was happing today. Atlas passed a new trade act, Mistral had brought down a small ring of thieves within the capital in a raid, so forth and so on. Finally, the first bell rung and class was officially about to begin. You like to think you held a good relationship with your students, being labeled the "cool" history teacher was also a bonus. It also helped that your girlfriend's father offered you some tips on how to run the class since he too was considered one of the "cool" teachers.
With that, test day began. Sure, nothing was really interesting to say the least but it was still interesting to see them take the test. You could see a few wondering eyes here and there, a few looking at the clock, others trying to think of an answer or on the question itself. Class out and the class came in for the test day. So forth and so on until fifth period which was your planning period. Wasting zero time, you quickly began to look at and run through each and every test you had received that day and started grading.
Some were great, others not so much, fails here, A's there, it was the usual test for your class. Sure you got a few dumb answers but it wasn't anything painful. Well, one and two were painful but none of that was going to ruin today for you. You looked into your bag one last time and saw the small box inside along with a card. You smiled again and returned to your work. Finally, periods 6 and 7 stepped in and began to take their tests as well.
After a long enough day, the test were done and the students and yourself got a three day weekend. Doing a bit more grading, you had finally finished at least the first 3 classes done and decided to call it a day and drive on home. The second you got home, you got to work preparing for the evening. After running around the house for a little bit, you got everything you needed for tonight to be perfect. You had gotten reservations, gotten the gift, everything was set.
Finally, Yang walked inside your house with some groceries. You were quick to help her out and bring them over into the kitchen.
Yang: Hey, Tough Guy. How was work?
(Y/N): It's work. Do you really think it's interesting?
Yang: It's called conversation. Something you were and still aren't good at.
(Y/N): Oh, oh, well thank you. And here I was thinking I'd treat you some place nice tonight.
Yang: And that place would be?
(Y/N): Cardinal's Grill.
Yang: Time?
(Y/N): 8:30.
Yang turned back to you from the fridge and gave you a faint smile. You smirked and she walked over and kissed you.
Yang: I love you.
(Y/N): I love you too.
So, when the time came, both you and Yang got changed and headed out to the restaurant. Cardinal's Grill wasn't anything fancy per say. It was your usual high end steakhouse, not trying to be fancy but expecting you to be fancy. Then again, it was a steak house and everyone there wasn't so fancy at all.
The two of you got your seats and began the whole small talk portion of the night.
(Y/N): So, what about you? Anything interesting happened today?
Yang: Not much. Just went around did a few errands here and there. Apparently there is this new elderly couple running a nice produce stand on the north side of town. Or at least that is what my sister is telling me. Jax and Plum just got engaged. So that's something.
(Y/N): Yep. Always something.
Yang: Yeah. You alright? You seem kinda down.
(Y/N): What? Oh, yeah. I'm good. I'm good.
Yang: (Y/N), you know if there is anything you need-
(Y/N): Yang...I got a good hold on life. Trust me.
Yang: Ok. But don't lie to me about it.
Finally, your food came and the two of you dug into it. Yang had ordered one of the largest steaks you had ever seen. You, in the meantime, had a burger that was more than enough for you. Luckily, the two of you were able to finish everything and laugh it off. After you meal, you decided now would be a good time.
(Y/N): Uh, hey, Yang. I got something for you.
Yang: (Y/N), you know you don't have too-
(Y/N): Yang...just please.
Yang: (Smiles) Ok.
You slide the envelope from your school bag to her. Yang took it and began to read the card that came with it. Tears began to grow in her eyes.
Yang: (Y/N), what do you mean by-
She looked at you but you were gone. She then glanced around and saw you next to her, down on one knee. She gasped and covered up her teary eye face.
(Y/N): You said, if I ever needed anything, I could tell you. I need, you, Yang. I don't think I could go on without you. And the past five years had proven that to me. Yang...will you marry me?
Yang: (Crying) Yes!
You smiled at one another and Yang kissed you. You could hear applause from around the restaurant for you two. But that didn't matter. You were marrying your dream girl. A girl you needed like air.
