In Shade Academy, there was always something to look forward to during the school day. Sometimes it was a fight between students, teams, even a few teachers here and there. Other times, it was something simple. It could be a small pep rally or a school dance...like it was tonight. Shade didn't host dances that often, yet whenever they did, there was some magic behind it all. It was calming and times when everyone could relax and spend some quality time together with one another.

As it stands, your team were kinda forcing you to go as you couldn't care less about this thing. It wasn't that big of a deal for you, yet it was still suck. You and your teammates were inside your dorm room, getting ready. You had just a simple buttoned up shirt and a tie along with some jeans.

Opal: (Y/N), really? Just that?

(Y/N): What do you want from me? To prepare a four course meal?

Raleigh: Relax, buddy. Don't worry about her.

Your teammates Opal Vietor and Raleigh Flynn were already going to dance together as they have been dating one another for 6 months. You turned back and saw your other teammate, Bruno Orin also getting ready.

Opal: At least, Bruno bothers with looking decent.

Raleigh: Geez. Mistral people, am I right?

Opal: You're dating me.

(Y/N): Whatever. I'll see you guys down there.

With that, you left your dorm room. Your teammates smiled.

Raleigh: Nebula down there?

Opal: Of course she is. (Reads scroll) And Gwen just texted me. Let's bounce.

With that, the three of them went on down. You were inside Shade's main hall, standing off to the side lines watching other students and a few teachers dance. You didn't feel like doing anything, that is until you saw her. Nebula Violette. She wasn't an amazing warrior but she was smart, cool, collected and a good friend to your team, being Opal's cousin and all.

You had a crush on her for a couple months now and with the Vytal Festival coming up, both your teams would be traveling to Vale for the celebrations and combat. It was, in all honesty, one of the last few chances you had with this girl. However, you never really had much experience when it came to talking to girls with the exception of your team and family members.

But you knew that if you wanted to make an impact on this girl, you had to grow a pair and get out there and talk to her. She was in a short purple dress that reached her knees with a lovely bracelet are her right wrist. Needless to say, to you, she looked beautiful. As you were walking up to her, you notice she was completely alone, no friends, teammates or anyone else. This was the perfect moment for you.

However, before you could reach Nebula, Brett Glaciers cut in. Glaciers was a second-year from Shade, always asking out first-years. Recently his target had been Nebula. You wanted nothing more than to punch his face in. Nebula must have shared the sentiment as she actually did punch him in the face. After she walked past him, she caught and locked eyes with you. She gave you a smile and walked up to you.

Nebula: Hey.

(Y/N): Uh, hi. Having a good night? Minus that last few seconds.

Nebula: Basically. How's my cousin been treating you?

(Y/N): She's fine. Little rough but everyone is at some point.

Nebula: I guess. Want to get something to drink?

(Y/N): Sure. Why not?

With that, you both walked back to the punch bar and got some drinks and headed outside. The night was nice and it was a nice time for you and Nebula to relax outside. You just swirled your drink around, trying to find some sort of conversation starter.
