"Remind me again, why are we sitting here?" Hannah asked for the nth time.
"Concentrate bud. We need to finish it off tonight and submit it by morning." I reminded her again. I have already lost the count.
Hannah, me and two other boys were grouped as a team for an assignment regarding an analytical overview of business strategies. We have been killing our brains for about, let me count, seven, eight hours? Anyways it's already thirty past twelve at night and we are the only ones here in the cafeteria, and also few professors, one among them Mr. Keynes the sole reason why we are stuck here.
"Oh no, guys, my system got shut down." Zach, the one who was typing it all down lifted his head with the most apologetic look ever. I felt all the curses I could muster threatening to spill out any moment from my mouth. Control control, it's not his fault, it's the stupid computer. Hannah was already clutching my thighs cutting off any blood circulation. We all looked at him, only if looks could kill.
"Thank god, guys it auto saved." He clasped his hands in relief as we all let out a sigh calming our inner demons.
After another thirty minutes of hardwork, we completed the bloody assignment. After giving a high five to each other we all dispersed to our own ways. Since it was already past 1am, one of Han's roommate came to pick us up and also to drop me in my place. I already called Seokjin informing him I will be late so he shouldn't wait up for me. Whenever I come late doing projects like this he always stays up waiting for me in the living room. I don't know why he always do that ruining his sleep. I guess he's sad because he can't come pick me up or leave together from the Uni like other roomies did. Therefore I told him I am going to stay at Han's and he should sleep.
It's a lie but at least I'm doing it for his own good. We were waiting by the entrance for our ride when another car dropped by. I know this guy. Mr. Wesley or something like that. He's Seokjin's friend. He was on a phone call as he stood beside us in the entrance, his car parked.
"No, I came here to pick Mat." He talked to the other person on the line. Since I was bored as heck, I paid attention to the conversation.
"I know. I hung out with my friend. You know him, the new colleague, Kim Seokjin. Yes that guy, it is his birthday. Since I can't celebrate with him in the morning I took him out at midnight."
I tuned out the conversation after that. It's Seokjin's birthday. Or is it some other guy. There's only him by that name as far as I know. I should do something. He might be asleep already. I can wish him tomorrow morning. I remember him telling that his birthday is shortly coming up but I didn't know the exact date. Hope I won't make a fool out of myself. I really hope it is Seokjin's.
When I reached home like I thought Seokjin was asleep. I used the spare key to enter and plopped onto the bed straight away. I should think of doing something in the morning.

I stretched myself yawning widely. Then I got off the bed, to the bathroom. After my morning routine, I went downstairs finding some fruits cut up and orange juice on the table. Just like I thought, he already left for Uni. I had no class today nor do I have to go to the restaurant job. I glanced at the fridge for any notes stuck on it from him.
'Hoping you completed your favourite assignment of the week.' And a wink emoji. The sticky note itself mocking me. I have been bitching about this hell hole assignment to Seokjin from the day I got it. He also knew I wasn't a big fan of Mr. Keynes. His eyes always scans the others uncomfortably. And I happen to feel like Jin doesn't like him either.
Anyways I need to do something for his special day. I don't even know how old he is. So writing on the cake cancelled. I thought a lot of what to buy for him and finally something struck my mind. It's not something that grand or expensive but I feel like he wants it. And in such a short notice it's a hell yeah.
I got ready and took a cab to buy the gift and also to buy a cake. I for a fact know he likes chocolate cake and isn't a fan of whipped cream either. I bought a perfect cake that I hope he would like. After that I dropped by the grocery store to buy some stuffs when another idea popped in my mind. I thought about our conversation few weeks back after my trip to Stanley Park.
"This food is awesome. Thank you so much." Seokjin exclaimed thanking me for the tenth time.
"You don't have to thank me. I wish we could go out like I go with my friends." I was sad we couldn't go out like others.
"It's ok, we can wait till we can do it." He gave me a sweet smile. That smile he gives is so innocent and adorable.
"Let me ask what do you crave the most when you think about Korean food?" I asked.
"I miss a lot of Korean food. Mostly I guess jajjangmyeon and gimbap."
"Don't we get it here? Restaurants maybe."
"I didn't find any Korean restaurants near here. And I also don't get enought time to, you know, make it." He replied voice down and nostalgic thinking of his homeland.
That's it I'm going to make one of these for him. I remember me searching in you tube about those foods. After a few minutes I found the foods and the names from the search history. I searched the aisle for the ingredients and decided to go with gimbap since I couldn't find black bean paste for jajjangmyeon. It took me about thirty-forty minutes to finish the shopping and find a cab for return ride.
God I can't believe I'm cooking. I haven't cooked anything for anyone. And here I'm cooking numerous times than I ever thought I would cook. That too for my professor aka friend.
