"Happyyyy Birthdayyyy." I heard the scream the moment I entered the house. My mind suddenly went somewhere else, did they see him dropping me here?
I was tackled in a tight hug cutting off my breathing. "Thank you. G-Guys can't br-breathe." They loosened the hold and stepped back making me gasp for breath. I saw two idiots giggling at my desperate catch for breath. Jimin and Hannah.
"Guys you didn't have to do this." I told them.
"Naah, all the more reason to do it." Jimin cooed. They took me to the table, set for the party that had a big chocolate cake and lots of other cupcakes. One side with champagnes, beer and wine and the other side with chips and dips and other foods.
"Drink?" A guy with chestnut hair came near me. He was about 6 feet tall, towering me. His hand was extended forward with a drink in hand.
"I don't drink." I shook my head and smiled at him who was looking at me expectantly.
"It's ok. I'm Nate by the way." He extended his hand out to me. I took his and shook it, "Eliza".
"Do y..." He was cut off by Jimin. Who was overly excited impatiently waiting for me to join the dance. He pulled me from Nate and took me to Han who was also dancing like this was her last night. I mumbled a sorry and swiftly joined them.
The rest of the night was a blast but I couldn't stop checking time frequently. It was already night and I want to get back as soon as possible. After telling Han and Jimin, I took a cab back to my place.
Seokjin was patiently waiting for me in the living room.
"Hey I'm back." I sat beside him. I brushed my hair with my fingers which must have been all tangled from the dance. "Did you wait for long?"
"No I just came few minutes back. Are you ready or do you want to rest?"
"Nah I'm good. Wait, we are going somewhere?" I thought we were gonna just chill here. I really want to get this dress off me (and wear something else).
"Yup and maybe you should wear something more warmer we are going out." He pointed out.
"I was hoping you would say that. I don't think I can handle a dress for too long." He chuckled hearing my complaints. I got off the couch and took off to my room. I wore a white pair of jeans, a light pink shaded knitted top and a long jacket with a beanie and winter boots. Comfy and pretty.
I didn't know where we were going making some small talks and keeping ourselves busy, we pulled over a vast area covered with snow. I could see smoke rising from random spots and I realised that were some small groups of people having a camp fire like setting. The spot we were standing was near the pine trees. Within a few minutes we pulled up the logs we got, setting it on fire. Warmth spread through me as I reached my hands to the fire and rubbed against each other."This place is awesome, Seokjin." I exclaimed feeling this was the best unintentional present I got for my birthday.
"Do you like it?" I nodded frantically earning a chuckle from him.
"Kyeopta." He said. I looked at him confused not understanding what he meant. But he just shrugged it off laughing again.
"How did you know of this place?"
"Jace told me. Most families and couples come here to see the fire works." I nodded approving how amazing it's going to be.
"I will come just now, wait." I nodded as he left to the car. The sky was really beautiful, blue hues radiating a natural yet unrealistic beauty. It was the right amount of light with the right amount of warmth. Even the climate was perfect, snow covered as a blanket but the sky was clear of snow fall making it easier and warm.
"Liz." A smile creeped upon me hearing that nickname which I grew a liking to. I turned only to get surprised again. There he stood at the front of the car with a lit candled cake. I got off from the ground and strode towards him.
"Happy Birthday Liz." There again my stomach fluttered hearing that name.
"Thank you so much. I..I don't know what to say." I felt like I had a lot to say but I couldn't form any words in my mouth.
"You don't have to. Now make a wish." He smiled encouraging me. I closed my eyes, 'Let this man in front of me be happy forever and please give him everything he wants so he never gets hurt or sad.' Him and those words were the only thing I could think of right now. Everything else was a blur, only this happiness and gratefulness filled my mind.
I opened my eyes and blew out the candles. He placed the cake back on the car's front and turned to me with a smile resonating his glistening eyes.
"How did you know?"
"I have my ways, hun." Hun? I didn't complain or nag him for calling me that.
"Thank you for making it the best day." I hugged him tight trying my best to show him how happy and grateful I was to have him. He made this day one hundred thousand times better.
I felt his hands encircling me pulling me closer. He patted on my head while the other rested around my shoulder. I felt his warmth more comforting than the fire, more safe than my house.
Heat rushed upto my cheeks as I realised we have been standing like this for more seconds than necessary. I pulled away just to get shocked as we both turned our heads to look above as the sky roared with fire and lit up the whole galaxy in its vibrant shades. It was beautiful and was not anything like I've ever seen. It was too capturing and words couldn't suffice to explain that mesmerising phenomenon. I could see his eyes sparkling as he stared at the sky with a small smile planted on his lips. He turned to look at me as his smile grew.
"Happy new year, Liz." I smiled at him genuinely.
"Happy new year, Seokjin."
"Call me Jin." He whined.
"Never." I giggled staring at the lit night sky.
