Few months later
I have never realised how much I have missed India until now. The greens lushes spread across the land, filled with chirping of birds and the simplicity in its beauty was enthralling. The sky was turning dark and moon showing its presence, despite being the winter season it was warm even with the fog clouding the air.
Seokjin and I have took the flight to India with no much pre-planning. I was working on my papers that I have to submit before Christmas when suddenly Jin came to me and asked how I feel about going for a trip. And obviously I agreed not even wasting a second.
Then it was just a matter of time we needed to get our leaves from our workplace. After that was done we took off in the next week. Two days in India, then two in South Korea and finally a three days to Jeju island.
"Woah, it is so beautiful in here." Seokjin exclaimed for the tenth time as we passed by the street on a cab to get to my home. We decided it will be best to start from there.
When I told my parents about us coming here, they were super excited that they started preparing to receive us straight away. Even my dad started stocking on my favourite snacks and renovating my bedroom, that too for the both of us, which was a big leap from his part.
Once we reached my house the cheeriness in Jin's face turned to nervousness. He so badly wanted to get approval from my parents even though I joked eloping is still an option.
My mom was the one who opened the door. She engulfed me into a big hug, kissing both my cheeks and then hugged Seokjin too. His face which was relaxed once she welcomed him in soon turned wary as he saw my father coming to us.
He had a small smile on his face which is visible only if you look closely. He hugged me and the smile turned brighter, his eyes glistening. I held onto my dad a little longer, cherishing how happy he looked right now and how rare it was to see him like this. After that he turned to Seokjin, his face welcoming and stern as he patted Seokjin's shoulder ushering him in too.
"How was the flight both of you? Are you tired from the jetlag and all?" He asked once we sat in the living room.
"Just a little, but it feels good to be back you know. I missed here." I said.
"And Jin, this is your first time in India, right?" He looked at Jin who looked more confident and relaxed now.
"Yeah. I really love this place. It is so simple and beautiful."
"Ela, you should show him around and make him stay here with you." My mom added cheerfully. I know how badly mom wanted me to stay here and not return back but know it was not going to happen anytime soon.
"We are only here for two days mom, I told you. We will try to cover places as much as possible." I told her.
"Maybe next time we will have more time. Who knows maybe I will want to stay here after that." Seokjin added making my mom happy.
"You must be hungry after all that travel, come on let's have dinner." My father said.
I didn't realise how hungry I was until I saw my mom's cooked meals. Everything on the plates were my favourite foods and there were some dishes that Jin liked when my mom stayed with us.
"You have no idea how much I missed your food, mom." Jin remarked as he took the seat beside me.
"I made it specially for you Jin. I remembered how you liked it." My mom was beaming from the compliment she got from Jin.
"One day I tried to make it and didn't even taste half as good as the one you make. Even Liz had to struggle while eating it." He said. Well that was true, there are not much foods that I don't like and me struggling to eat one means it was a flop. His food wasn't that bad considering he didn't have every ingredients.
"Well you didn't have all the ingredients and all the food you make are delicious." I told him the truth. I love the foods he make just like how I longed for my mom's food.
We talked a lot about our life back there, our jobs, how things were with my parents and then about our siblings and his family. Dad eased upto Seokjin a lot compared to how he was at the beginning. They started talking about Jin's family business which was a field my dad was an expert in and that built up their conversation on and on while my mom and I talked about our own things.
"It was a lot better than I thought it would be." He heaved a sigh once we entered my bedroom. The room was renovated slightly similiar to my room in Canada. My mom has told me that the whole renovation idea was dad's and he wanted to do it with me, but was actually sad to know I won't be around that long.
"I told you not to be nervous. I was sure they were gonna love you." I told him, there was no one alive who could resist his charms.
"I wasn't nervous, not at all." He denied then paused and admitted, "Well I was damn scared if they will not like me and ask me to return back or something."
"They won't. And if they did, then you won't be leaving alone. We are in this together. Always." I promised him. I can't imagine a life without him by my side. He has become a very important and precious part of my life that I don't intend to part with.
"Always." He repeated and kissed me showing me how much I meant to him too which was beyond any words could ever express.
