By Your Side ~ A One Chicago Story

Chapter 5 - It's now or never

"Ha! take that you stupid dragon" Jay yells as the ender dragon explodes into a ton of xp. Since he had discovered that I had an xbox Jay had been glued to the screen playing all kinds of games Call of Duty, Red dead redemption and especially at the moment Minecraft.

I was laying on the sofa with my legs on his lap, we had just got in from a long day at work and we were waiting on our takeaway pizza.

After collecting all his xp Jay pulls me onto his lap and gives me a passionate kiss.

"What was that for?" I ask when we break apart, I loved to kiss him don't get me wrong but that was a bit unexpected.

"Do I need a reason to kiss you?" Responds Jay smiling at me

"No never" I smile back at him

"If you really want to know I was so happy I'd beaten that bloody dragon that I wanted to kiss my beautiful Fiancé" he tells me. I smile at him and Bury my face into his shoulder breathing in his scent and i felt his grip around me tighten.

We stayed like that in silence for a few minutes  until a knock at the door brought us back to our senses. I rolled off Jay back onto the sofa and he got up to answer the door.

While Jay was talking to the delivery guy my phone buzzed and I picked it up from the table and saw a text from my mother.

M:Just thought I'd check in with you, how are you doing at the moment

I knew full well she didn't care but liked to do this every so often to make it seem like she did. So i decided just to tell her about Jay as I wasn't feeling up to putting on an act for her

B:I'm engaged......

There is a long pause before my phone starts ringing in my hand

"Hello" I answer dreading what she was about to say. Jay had come back into the room by now so I put the phone on speaker so he could hear as well

"BAILEY-JAY COOPER, HOW DARE YOU GET ENGAGED WITHOUT YOUR MOTHER KNOWING, I HAVENT EVEN MET HIM AND I TOLD YOU THAT YOUR FATHER AND I MUST APPROVE OF ANY BOYFRIEND BEFORE YOU CAN BECOME INTIMATE WITH THEM" she yells down the line, the look of absolute horror and  disgust on Jays was exactly how I felt

"I'm not a child any more mother and I am perfectly capable of making my own life disisions" I tell her trying to stay calm

"I INSIST THAT I MEET HIM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE" she demands

I look at Jay for support but he just shrugs his shoulders, he's as lost for words as I am

"I figured you'd say that mother which is why we would like to invite Father, Jackson and yourself over for dinner next week"

Shit

That was defiantly not what I'd wanted to say.

"Well thats sounds good I'll let you know when we are free to come over to your apartment" she says calming down a bit

"Ok, I've got to go now mother my dinner is ready" I tell her desperate to get off the phone.

"Goodbye Bailey-Jay"

"Goodbye Mother" and I then hang up the phone.

I look over to Jay and burst into tears I hadn't ment for that to happen and now I had to introduce Jay to my parents who I knew wouldn't approve of our relationship it was all too much.

Jay sets the pizza down in the coffee table and rushes over to me embracing me in his arms.

The pizza could wait, right now all I wanted was to be hugged by Jay and feel Loved by someone.
