"I'll get it" I say to Jay breaking our hug before going over to open the door and sure enough Jax, my mother and Mt father were stood there.
"Aahh Bailey-Jay it's lovely to see you" my mother says loudly barging past me into the apartment hallway.
"Nice to see you too mum" I say moving out of the way so my father and Jax could enter as well.
"Mmm something smells nice" exclaims Jax as he takes his shoes off.
"Yeah it does" I agree "and it's almost ready so you can come through and sit at the table I say motioning for them to move through into the main area of our apartment.
Surprisingly it started out ok i introduced my parents to Jay and Jay to my parents and we sat down at the table and started eating a very delicious meal that Jay had cooked for us.
"So Jay what do you do for a living?" My mother asked putting her wine glass down on the table
Shit.
Jay moved his hand onto my leg as a sign of reassurance.
"I'm a Detective, in the same unit as Bailey" he said simply.
In the silence that followed this simple statement you could have heard a pin drop. The same look of horror and disappointment that I knew all too well had reappeared on my mothers face.
"I'm sorry what?" She says trying to keep her composure
"You heard him" I say crossly
"Now Bailey you could have thought about your future when you got engaged" my father said speaking for the first time that evening.
Jay opens his mouth to defend me but I cut him off.
"I was thinking about my future" I say "a future with someone I love and truly care about, I'm not like you and mum who only married each other for the money each others families had"
There was a loud clatter as Jax dropped his knife onto his plate he looked utterly shocked and proud of what I had just said. But you couldn't say the same for my parents who both looked furious.
"LIES" my mother yelled at me "FOR YEARS I HAVE BEEN TOLERANT WITH YOU BAILEY-JAY BUT YOU HAVE PUSHED IT TOO FAR THIS TIME I AM NO LONGER GOING TO PUT UP WITH YOUR REBELLIOUS BEHAVIOUR IF YOU CAN'T SORT YOURSELF OUT THEN YOU CAN FORGET YOU WERE EVER A PART OF THIS FAMILY."
"Get out of my house" I say fighting back tears, what my mother had said had hit me hard.
"EXCUSE ME" bellowed my father
"Get out" I repeat getting to my feet
"YOU WILL NOT SPEAK TO YOUR PARENTS THAT WAY" my father says also getting to his feet
"Its my house and I have decided you are no longer welcome" I say
We stand in silence for a second just staring each other in the eyes
"Come along Daisy, Jackson, it is clear Bailey-Jay has chosen her life as a police officer over her own family" says my father walkimg over to the door. My mother gets up and follows him straight away but Jax lingers behind for a second.
"I'm sorry Bailey, no parent should treat there children the way they teat you and Ally" he says giving me a sympathetic look before walking out.
We hear the door slam as they leave and I collapse back into my chair and burst into tears.Jay wastes no time in wrapping his arms around me giving me a much needed hug. He picks me up and carries me to the bedroom where we both lay down and I snuggle into his chest still crying.
"This is all my fault" I cry into his chest "I pushed it too far I shouldn't have said that"
"Baby it's not your fault, your brother was right nobody deserves to be treated like that, ever" he says stroking my back
I don't answer this and just bury my head further into his chest.
Jay pulls the duvet out from underneath us and wraps it around both of us.
"We can talk about this tomorrow if you like" he says soothingly "but for now baby, just try and get some sleep ok"
I lift my head up slightly and whisper to him "I love you Jay and I'm so sorry for tonight"
"Its ok, don't worry about it and I love you too Bailey-Jay Cooper" he replies before kissing my lips
