Emma's POV

"Hey, Emma. Ever wondered what an official Turf War match is like?" Eli asked me.

The Royals and I were currently walking to a fast food place to eat lunch on the weekend.

"Huh? Oh well, I guess I do sometimes..." I replied. "I mean, you guys just have to go up against other schools and fight their teams, right? There's not that much to it than that."

"Aha!" He exclaimed while raising his pointer finger up in the air. "See, that's where you're wrong, Newbie. Turf War matches are much more than flying punches and looking cool while you're beating another student's ass. Fighting someone from another top-notch school really pumps you up with sweet adrenaline and lifts your spirits to do better on your next rematch."

"Hmm..." I responded. "Never thought of it that way..."

"Well, not everyone likes to get sweaty like you, Eli." Vianny jumped into our conversation. "Trust me, Em. Turf Wars is a harsher arena than you could ever imagine."

Eli gave her a look.

"What?" Vianny rolled her eyes. "I'm not saying that you can't enjoy it, Eli, but it's dangerous."

"Oh, please. Dangerous, how exactly?" Her brother crossed his arms.

"Look, I just think that this whole 'pinning students against each other to see who's the better school' thing is kind of unhealthy." Vianny did air quotes to explain her point. "Fighting a few normal matches from time to time is okay, but I'm worried someone's going to get hurt."

"Psh!" Eli brushed it off. "It's Turf Wars. Of course there'll be some injuries here and there. Emma, what do you think? Are the matches dangerous or not?"

"Um, well..." I muttered. "I've never seen one before, so I don't know really."

"Well then, I guess this is the right time to bring it up!" Eli said. "We were actually challenged by our main rival middle school a couple of days ago, Laredo. Currently, we're at a tie. Three wins for us and three wins for them. This Turf War match will occur tomorrow in the afternoon to decide who will finally break the tie. So, what do you think? Wanna come along and watch?"

"Huh? Can I really?" I questioned. "I mean, am I even allowed to? I thought only the Royals could attend those matches. And I'm a cripple."

"Welp, you're not wrong about that one." He stated. "But who tf cares, you know?"

"Ahh, shit. Are we really doing this?" Nolan laughed nervously. "What if we get caught?"

"We won't. It's not like our little Newbie's fighting anyway. She'll just be watching from the sidelines." Eli justified. "And...she'll see that Turf Wars isn't dangerous."

Vianny just glared at him.

Eli turned his head to look at Lucia. "Lucia, you're fine with this, right?"

She sighed in response.

"If that's what Emma really wants to see, then I guess I can let this one pass..."

"Oh, hell yeah! Even Lucy's on board with this!" He raised a fist up in victory. "You're really gonna like seeing our fights tomorrow, Em! I absolutely know it!"

"A-Ah, I can't wait..." I stuttered at Eli's sudden burst of excitement.

"Oh, look! There's the place! Let's go!" He pointed at the sign of the fast food restaurant and began to run over to the entrance.
