Seraphina's POV

Seraphina's Room, Wellston Girls' Dormitories, 9:46AM

Today was Sunday.

On Thursday, I got the voicemail on my phone.

That means that it's finally time.

To go see Leilah again...

I gotta admit, it's been such a long time since I've seen her face. Of course I still have lots of pictures of her from when we were kids, but nothing compares to the real deal.

Still, I have no idea what's going on. For all I know, this could be some kind of fluke to reel me in or something. Plus, I haven't had a single clue on what Leilah's been doing these days.

She could be doing good things. She could be doing bad things.

I have no idea.

But that's exactly why I'm bringing Arlo into this.

Three Days Ago...

"So...that woman, Leilah. She was your older sister?" Arlo asked me.

I nodded. "Yep. I remember it like it was yesterday. One day, she was just fed up with everything regarding our parents' decisions for her. They told her to do this, they told her to do that. But nothing was ever enough for them. When Leilah would complete a task that our parents would assign her to do, they would only discuss what to do next."

"There was no praise? Nothing?" The blond looked down at his lap.

"Never." I confirmed. "Honestly. It was so disheartening seeing her suffer like that."

"But weren't you suffering too?" He turned to me.

"Well...yeah." I shrugged. "But at least I had someone looking out for me when I needed it later."

"John." Arlo stated.

"Yeah." I agreed. "Now that I think about it more, our parents really were the worst. They expected everything from us at such a young age, yet called us failures when things didn't exactly go peachy for them."

"I think my parents were sort of like that too, but I'm sure that it was much harder for you. You know, since you're stronger than me and all." Arlo added.

...

"The voicemail by the way..." The blond haired boy leaned against the fence with his arms crossed. "Didn't that sound a bit shady?"

I nodded again. "I getcha. Even though I know it's Leilah, it still sounds pretty sketchy, y'know? But, I did check the location on my phone and it says that it leads to a cafe in Lovun Town."

He sighed. "Look, Seraphina. I know that it seems normal enough, but I wouldn't want another bad thing to happen to you while your ability is still being compromised. So if you're going, then I'm coming to."

"Sounds fair." I stated. "Alright then. Let's get to Lovun by Sunday morning. Got it?"

"Yeah, yeah. Don't need to tell me twice."

...

KNOCK!

Oh! He's here!

I stood up from my bed and walked over to open the door, which revealed Arlo.

He was wearing a light brown sweater with rolled up sleeves, a tan shirt underneath, long black pants, and shoes of the same color. As usual, he also had on his blue earrings.
