Arlo's POV

I'm losing my fucking marbles.

It's been who-knows-how-long weeks since I've realized my feelings for this stupid dork.

Stupid dork in question: John-Motherfucking-Doe.

That guy is so dense, I swear.

All of us have been working after school to help out with the preparations for the masquerade party. And by all of us, I mean John, Remi, Isen, Blyke, Elaine, and I.

Urgh, I just can't stand it anymore!

I think I'll go crazy before this week even ends!

Should I just go and say it?

Say that I love him out of nowhere?

Nope.

Knowing him, if I confessed, then I bet he would reject me in the worst way possible and laugh about it for a whole three days straight. Yeah, that seems about right.

Twenty bucks he would say I was joking, and this thing was a dare.

I sighed.

"Are you okay, Arlo?" I heard Remi say to me.

John and Blyke had been sent to another room where they were cleaning up boxes and other things inside of cabinets, searching for any party decorations.

Elaine was in Doc's office, delivering some papers to him about other stuff.

Meanwhile, Isen went to the bathroom fifteen minutes ago and still hasn't come back since. He was supposed to be helping Remi and I check the floors for dirt and everything else.

I swear, that moron probably fell in or got lost around the school like the idiot he is.

"Hm, Arlo...?" Remi repeated my name, tilting her head.

I turned around to look at the girl. "Oh, sorry, Remi. I was distracted for a moment, that's all."

"Distracted? Distracted by what exactly?" She questioned before her amber eyes shifted from curiosity to comprehension. Then, she smirked. "Ohh, I get it. You're thinking about John, aren't you? That's no problem. I got your back!"

"Uh, okay...? But what does that even mean?" I was puzzled by her wording.

"You were thinking about how to confess to him, weren't you? I could tell by that baffled face you make when you're thinking anywhere." Remi hummed to herself as she placed her hands on her hips. "Ah, yeah. This will be tough, huh? The last time I tried to help you, I mentioned how you would want to go out on a date with him, but it turns out he actually said the day."

"Seriously? You were trying to help me that time? I thought you were teasing me more than anything." I admitted, thinking back to the memory.

"Well, I guess you could call that a bonus. But no. I really want the best for you, Arlo. I mean it." The pink-haired girl kindly voiced. "Plus, don't you realize something else?"

I raised an eyebrow. "No? What do you mean?"

"We're preparing for the masquerade party. The party which is supposed to celebrate the seniors leaving to go to college. Arlo, you're a senior here at Wellston. Don't you realize that? Our final day before summer vacation, for the rest of us, the FROST crew, is in a month or so." She explained thoroughly. "If you don't make a move soon, if you aren't able to confess before you graduate, you'll rarely get another chance to in person. Remember, John may be older than us, but he's still in the same grade as us. But in your case, it's different."
