Blyke's POV
"Here." Arlo pointed to the image of the town on Isen's laptop. "This is where we're headed. I know it's just a regular low-tier town, but Elaine and I couldn't find any other towns that needed help. Nowadays, these amped bastards will try to head to the weakest people possible since they know they can defeat them in a battle. They don't really go after mid-tier towns much."
I looked closely at the small town shown on the computer screen. Brenton, huh?
"It's fine." Isen told him. "Blyke and I already know the drill. We didn't go after Waldo and Alana to learn nothing about what happens out there. Isn't that right, Blyke?"
"Yeah." I responded, then looked to Arlo, who was standing beside me. "So, we're just gonna keep searching for towns until we find Remi?"
"That's the plan." He replied blankly.
"God. This is so stupid." I smiled nervously. "How the hell did we end up doing this?"
"We have no other choice. If Remi wasn't so persistent, then maybe I wouldn't have had to do this to you three." Arlo explained. "But you know how she is. She's just like her brother. They're both so kind and thoughtful. It kind of makes me feel bad about myself."
"Really, you?" I was surprised. "I would have never suspected those sorts of feelings from you. But, I think...even if you're not like Remi and Rei, you're a great leader."
...
"Hey, Blyke."
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
My smile beamed. "No problem."
"Alright, our mission starts now. Suit up, people." Arlo quickly switched to his bossy attitude, commanding everyone to slip into their Superhero outfits.
Today's gonna be our first night out.
Brenton, Caro District, 12:00AM
...
"No one's around..." Elaine said nervously, her aqua blue hair tied up in a bun.
We had on Superhero outfits on and were walking together to see if anyone was nearby. But of course, the place looks completely deserted. I knew it. Just like in Waldo's case.
"It's okay, Elaine." Isen told her to ease the tension. "When we were trying out this Superhero thing at first with Remi, it was the same. Branish's streets were totally empty and most of the people weren't in their homes. They were all in this building with Waldo, being held captive."
"That...sounds unsettling." Arlo added to Isen's explanation. He turned to him, suggesting an idea. "Maybe we should split up. Search the houses and see if-"
Arlo suddenly cut himself off. What was going on? I whipped my head at Isen, who was looking towards a small, plain beige house at the end of the street. I put a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, man. Do you see something?" I asked him. He pointed at the house.
"There's two people in there. A man and a woman. The woman's using her ability and trying to force him up from the floor, but he's resisting." He turned to us. "We gotta help him!"
