Seraphina's POV

Kovoro Mall, Wellston Town, 4:06PM

Originally, I wanted to swallow my pride and confess to Remi today.

Originally, I wanted to proudly say out loud, "I love you!" to a girl I found cute since the beginning of the school year.

Originally, I wanted to call this trip to Kovoro Mall an official date.

But I couldn't, and the two of us ended up going together as friends.

Just friends.

Just gal pals.

Nothing more.

Currently, we were looking through fashion boutiques and stores, trying to find dresses that we could wear to the masquerade party. The party is only four days away after all.

Which means, I'll have to confess my love soon.

I promised John that I would.

I mean, just look at him. He's dating Arlo.

Besides, I knew I couldn't stall any longer than I already have.

"Hey, Remi? I'm just wondering... do you have a crush on anyone?" I turned to her.

"Me? Well, yeah." Out of the corner of my eye, I could see a faint blush over the pink-haired girl's cheeks. "But, I'm afraid I can't tell you. I'm sorry."

"No, I understand. You don't have to force yourself to tell me if you don't want to. I was just curious." I replied, deciding to take things up a notch and moving to the bigger questions. "So, what kinds of people catch your interest?"

Remi chuckled. "Basically anyone. As long as they have a strong spirit and I can sense that they're kind, I won't regret loving them. By the way, I'm pansexual."

So, she's pan...

Maybe... maybe I have a chance.

"You see, ever since I was young, I was told by my family that loving was my own choice. I don't need to force myself to love someone I don't want to, and the way my lover portrays themself, I should accept it as a part of them. And I agree. No one should try to change because someone told them to. That would be wrong." She continued.

"Your family sounds wonderful." I commented. "I wish I could've been given the same advice."

"Hey." Remi placed her hands on my shoulders and gave me a reassuring smile. "We're still here. Your friends. John, Arlo, Blyke, Isen, Elaine, and me. Right?"

"Yeah..." I said. "You guys are."

"You know, my mom used to say this quote a lot, and I've stuck by it for all these years." She stated. "'Love whomever you want. I won't stop you from finding your happiness.'"

I could feel the sides of my mouth curve upward into a small grin.

At least there's some people with good morals in the world.

If it were my mom, she would never let something like that fly. If I was still by her side, I bet I wouldn't even be able to choose my own partner. It would've been an arranged marriage.

"Anyway, have you seen anything that you want to buy? I've already found a dress for myself." Remi asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, uh, not really." I replied, scratching the back of my neck shyly. "To be honest, I'm not even sure what color my dress should be. Could I take a look at yours for a sec?"
