John's POV
Wellston Rooftop, Wellston Private High School, 3:36PM
"...And that's how Rei and I ended up splashing into the freezing river." Remi had just finished her story about herself and her older brother. "Er, let's just say that my mom wasn't too happy about us fooling around at that time. So, who's next?"
The pink haired girl turned her head towards the rest of us.
After school had ended with the final bell, the six of us all decided to have a friendly chat before heading back to the dorms. Remi, Blyke, Isen, Elaine, and I were currently sitting on the floor of the roof while Arlo was leaning back on the wired fence, standing.
"I already told you tons of embarrassing stuff back when we first met." Isen put his hands up in defense. "I don't really wanna go back there. You know what I mean?"
"You just don't wanna look like a fool in front of John, don't you?" Blyke pointed out.
"Urgghhh, sometimes I hate how you can always see through me, Blyke." The orange haired boy groaned in annoyance. "Don't you dare spill anything to him, hear me? Remember. I have loads of blackmail on you that are itching to be written in the school newspaper!"
"You don't mean..." The redhead gasped fearfully.
"I do. I still have that cursed video of you when you were a freshman." Isen nodded.
"Dammit, Isen! You're such an asshole!" The two had begun to argue with each other.
"Geez, stop it, you two! You guys are so childish!" Remi sighed, pushing the boys away from each other so that they don't actually fight. Then, she turned to me. "Oh, yeah. I've never heard much from you, John. Blyke, Isen, and I know a lot about each other, but you're kind of an enigma to us. We've also heard of Elaine and Arlo's stories before, so what about you?"
"Um...well..." I struggled to find a topic in my head. "What do you want to know about me?"
"Uh, then...how about your parents? Or any relatives for that matter?" She suggested. "I mean, I just talked about a few stories regarding my own mom and Rei!"
"I gotta admit, dude. Beyond your ability, you're a complete mystery." Blyke agreed with her.
...
My parents, huh?
"Well, my dad's the most inspirational person there is. At least to me. He has no ability, but stands up for himself pretty well." I went on to praise my dad even further. "I really admire him a lot. He's kind, compassionate, and brave. He also knows self defense and everything."
"He doesn't have an ability?" Remi questioned with an arched eyebrow. "Funny. Not that it's funny that he doesn't have one, but it's just that you're a god-tier that confuses me a bit!"
"I understand that." I nodded my head.
"Wait, hold on a second!" Remi looked thoughtful for a while until she shouted at me. "Your father wouldn't happen to be the William H. Doe, would he?"
"Oh, uh. He actually is." I scratched the back of my head. "Whoops. I forgot to say that. Sorry. But, yeah. My dad is the author of the book Unordinary."
"Woah, you for real?" Isen's mouth was hanging open in shock.
"I thought that the name sounded familiar..." Remi said to herself. "Wow! That's super cool! Rei really loved reading that book and its message. It's a shame that I didn't get it to read it myself, but I know enough about the summary."
