John's POV

Nallatown, Calton District, 11:29PM

"Urgh!" I yelled out loud as I caught the woman's fist with one of my hands, struggling to keep her movements to a bare minimum.

"Oh, you're stronger than I thought!" She chuckled. "Much stronger! You know, you don't really seem like the type of gal to hang around with these bunch of losers. They'll only slow you down."

"Shut up!" I shouted. "You don't know a thing about me! So don't you go acting as if you know who my friends are either!"

"Your friends, huh?" The red eyed woman spoke. "That's bullshit. Friends can only get you so far in life. If you really want to succeed, then you have to work for it by yourself. Alone."

"Then, what about those guys?"

I tilted my head towards the others who were fighting a group of people that were allied with the lady.

"You're nothing but a hypocrite. You preach about how working alone can get you the best results, yet here you are, having a number of people working with you." I explained. "How pathetic. I hate those kinds of people the most. They make me sick."

"No, there's a difference." She responded. "Those people work under me. Not with."

"Same thing. Different wording." I huffed out.

"Hm, how interesting of you to think that."

Suddenly, the woman stopped fighting with me and jumped back. She turned her head to glance at her other companions.

"Parisa, Zane." She called their names. "Stop fighting those Superheroes."

"What? But that doesn't make any sense-!" The girl raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, Risa. Shut up. The boss lady's speaking." The boy told her. "It'll be fine. If she says that we should stop fighting, then we should just do that and keep on following her orders. Alright?"

"Thank you, Zane." The so-called "boss lady" thanked her accomplice. "Now, you see, I'm a different case from what you heroes usually catch for the evening."

"Oh, is that so?" Remi crossed her arms, clearly unsatisfied. "How are you 'different' then?"

"I'm happy that you asked, Little Pinky." The red eyed woman clapped her hands together cheerfully. "Now, assuming that you all know what it's like out there, fighting crime and playing savior, all of that. I'm sure you can see a pattern with your missions."

After thinking for a moment, Isen finally spoke up.

"All of our opponents' abilities were based around combat."

"Bingo, Masked Guy. Not a single person I know is smart enough to realize what could get rid of Superheroes faster." The lady smiled evilly. "...And that is messing with their mentality."

Mentality...?

"Take the tall lass over there, for example. The girlie with the long white hair and the gold eyes. My ability allows me to see what kinds of things she's feeling. What she is feeling. What she has already felt..." She just continued talking.

"Betrayal, heartbreak, devastation, sorrow..." The woman sighed. "Such a sad little girl..."

"I..." My head fell down and I stared at the ground, not knowing what to say.

"Stop it!" I could hear Elaine exclaim angrily. "Stop spouting nonsense! You're upsetting her!"

"Um, duh!" The one named Parisa grinned wickedly, slightly bending over her back towards the group. "Did ya just figure that out? That's kinda the whole point, Cottontail!"
