"I would like to adopt a teenage girl," Riker sighs as he looks at the elderly women who runs the adoption center.

She smiles before showing him to a room. Riker talks to all the girls. Last is, Ella. The girl he was most eager to talk to. She sits in a chair, in the corner of the room as her gaze is out the window.

Riker takes the seat in front of her. "Hey, I'm Riker." He says to get her attention.

She looks over at him, examining his sweet smile. "I know who you are," she quietly says. They sit in silence for about five minutes. "Listen, you have to go away. You won't have to feel the pain that these girls physically cause after you leave."

"So I can't adopt you?" He asks, taken back.

Ella looks at the blonde man in front of her. "Why would you?" She slightly snaps.

He stands up, extending his hand to her. "Because you're a sweet young lady. Can I ask your name?" He smiles as they walk to the woman.

She pulls her hand away from him. "I'm Ella," she says quietly as he gets the paperwork.

"Ella, why don't you go gather your things?" The woman says.

Ella nods. "Okay, Mrs. Garrison," she sighs before walking off.
