Chapter 5: Zeth

We all wander in a giant group back to Jinx’s tree, with me talking to Brandon the whole way.

“So how did you meet Jinx?” Brandon asks me. “You don’t seem like the person who would openly walk up to a girl that lives secluded to a giant tree in the woods.”

I laugh to myself. “I fell out of a tree, and she helped get me healed. She’s a nice girl, nobody can deny that.”

He snorts. “Nobody can. She has a pure soul. Born to help people.” Does he have a crush on Jinx? It sure seems like it... I accidentally run into Ursa from behind, her blue dress now ruffled against my pants.

She looks behind at me. “Sorry, Zeth.”

“It’s fine. No harm done.” I say.

When we get back to the tree, there are already three more hammocks made of vines spread around the room. The sun shines through a hole in the tree Jinx made. It is only now that I notice the appearance of the rest of the Faithfuls more clearly. Muse has a red armoured tank top, with maroon jeans, black sneakers and fire tattoos covering all of his arms, his scruffy blonde hair on his back. He sits next to Ursa, who has her bow slung over her back, her black tights and brown boots neatly corresponding with her blue dress and short brown hair. Then, you get to Brandon. His neatly combed blonde hair sits in the hood of his green jacket. His aqua shirt is the same shade as his eyes, and his baggy khaki pants perfectly match the look, along with green sneakers.

Ursa unzips one of the pockets in her dress and pulls out some cards that are labelled Elementamon. After a good five minutes of me chatting to Muse, Brandon messing with his hair and Jinx reading a book, Ursa finally speaks.

“Hey Jinx? Do you still have those Elementamon DVDs you found in the forest?”

Jinx pulls the book down from her face and kicks her legs out of one of the hammocks. “Gotta catch ‘em all.” They both smile like maniacs. Jinx drops her book and rushes down the stairs as Ursa slides down the railing on her feet. As I look down the stairs, Ursa gets an old TV out of a cupboard while Jinx gets some dusty DVDs from under the couch. The TV gets slammed on the coffee table as Jinx drags the table back a few feet and inserts one of the discs.

“Brandon? Can you come down here please?” Jinx calls.

“What do you need me for-“

“Just shut up and down here for the sake of Elementamon!” Ursa yells.  Brandon sighs and goes down the stairs.

“Want to go for a swim?” Muse says to me. “Ursa gets pretty crazy when it comes to watching Elementamon, and I don’t think Jinx is any different.”

“Yeah, why not?” We head downstairs and grab some towels from a cupboard while Jinx is trying to get Brandon to use his lightning to power the TV.

We reach a little lake with a waterfall after a few minutes of walking. Moss grows on the rocks that stick out of the water. It looks like a detailed painting, with a deer drinking from and water and a dragon flying over us.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Muse smiles at me.

“It’s amazing... Never had anything like this in Hell.” We drop the towels under a tree and take our shirts and shoes off, Muse somehow being tanner than me. “Wait... How are you tanner than me? You live underwater.”

“Spray on tan, mate. And I don’t think it’s too hard to be tanner than you. You’re nearly as white as a ghost.”

I glare at him. “Shut up and swim.” He laughs in reply and dives into the water. I follow him into the crystal blue, seeing a few fish swim by my vision.
