Chapter 20: Zeth

I’ve got to admit, she’s slightly right. I think about this as I glide up the elevator shaft. Haven’t seen my Dad in a while. I wonder what he’ll think of me? He sits on his throne of bones, his wings folded behind his back. Besides the wings and demonic horns, he looks like a normal human being.

“My son,” He says from across the room. “How was your time in another dimension? Where did you go?”

“I’m afraid if I said that you would despise me.”

His face turns grim. “Merador... Did you meet anyone? Do not worry, I won’t judge you for your adventures.”

“I met 4 people. They come from all the different dimensions, but they already knew each other, I was just introduced. There’s Muse from Rithen, Brandon from Lucenthia, Ursa from Solar and then Jinx...She was from Merador. She helped me when I fell out of a tree.”

“I see...I’m guessing that was the girl who was here before? The Aurora girl. Tell me, have you heard of the Faithfuls?”

“I’m a member, Father. All the people I met, they were the Faithfuls.”

His look changes sour. “You were the ones who stopped Raiku. You stopped our empire from expanding to every known area of the universe!”

“I’m sorry, our empire? I would never want to kill my friend, and I would never rule destruction.”

He sighs. “I’m disappointed in you. Life has influenced you too much.”

“If I didn’t help, Jinx would have died-“

“And can’t you see that as a good thing?!” He interrupts. “You are the son of Satan and the Shadow Lord. You do not protect nature. You dispose of it!”

I start yelling. “No! That’s what you do! I am not you! I am not going to be the one to kill the girl I’m great friends with!”

His eyes narrow, and a wicked smile plays on his face. “I see... And what would happen if the rest of your friends were dead to?”

“I wouldn’t have anything to fight for. I’d be yours again.”

He has one of the biggest grins I have ever seen. “Well it’s just lovely that I know how to find your friends, isn’t it?”

I go pale. “No... No don’t get rid of them.”

“Ok, I won’t. On one condition.” Well this already doesn’t sound good. “Embrace your destiny.”
