Chapter 26: Zeth
She kneels at the edge of the cliff, quietly sobbing, knowing that her friend is gone. As the dragon lands, I run over to her and sit next to her.
“I’m so sorry Jinx.” I say. “I should never have trusted my father.”
Jinx sighs. “It wasn’t your fault. You didn’t know. At least you guys are alive.”
“We wouldn’t be if it wasn’t for you.” I put my hand on her shoulder. “Thank you.” She smiles up at me as the others walk over.
“Man, I’m sick of death and fighting at the moment. Anyone got any ideas of what to do to get my mind off of it?” Muse says.
“Well, I’m going to a club tonight. You guys can come if you want.”
“Sounds good to me.” Ursa says. “You better come too, Jinx. You really need a break from this kind of stuff.”
“I’ll think about it...” She says.
“C’mon, we can all get ready to head out.” Brandon takes the reflex off Jinx’s belt and draws his symbol. “Just come to my apartment at seven. We can all head there on my motorbike. Oh and Zeth?”
“Yeah?”
“You can come with me. I don’t think you can head back to hell at the moment.”
“Good plan.”
Ursa draws her and Muse’s symbols into the ground, and they leave.
I look at Jinx. “I-I...Hope to see you there.” She stares over the ravine, her hair being thrown about in the wind. I head over to Brandon, and we fall through to Lucenthia.
“That would’ve been the perfect moment.” Brandon says.
I tilt my head. “To do what?”
“To kiss Jinx! She was sad, we were leaving, it would’ve been perfect!”
“I’ll know the moment when it comes...”
“Oh, come on. I bet you twenty dollars I can kiss Jinx before you can.”
I smirk. “You’re on. Now come on. Let’s get ready to go party.”
