Chapter 31: Jinx

My hair is plastered to my scalp by the time I reach the station. It’s 9:59, and I have no time to buy a ticket. I dash through one of the empty ticket booths, reaching the platform among a crowd of people. The train starts to move off. Dammit. I start running along the platform to catch up with it, catching a glimpse of what looked like Ursa and Muse waiting for their train. I get to one of the doors as it closes, and jump onto the train. People stare at me, but I don’t care. I’ve done this in a skirt and a bow. I am amazing. I slip inside the train and settle into a window seat. There’s nobody else in this train cart, so it’s extremely quiet.

I let my mind wander, letting the blue and green swirls outside my window consume everything. The leather seats, the train, the dimensions, Zeth.

Until all that’s left is me.
