Chapter 27: The Past- Jinx
“Alright, so all I’ll need you to do is to bust into the vehicle if something goes wrong. I’ll show you how to train the ‘Devil’s Falcon’ so that we can all fly away.” I explain.
“Fly awesomely into the sunset as the vehicle explodes in the background?” Grace says excitedly.
“Yeah, sure. Whatever floats your boat. Now then, let’s get started.” I call the dragon with a screech noise, and he lands next to us. “The first thing you need is for the dragon to trust you. Without that, you can’t ride him.”
She pats the dragon’s head, but he flinches backwards, startled.
I sigh. “Does this make it obvious enough? You give him food. Any dragon in this dimension will love you if you give it food.” I give her a massive steak.
“Seems normal. I’d love anyone who gave me food.” She throws the meat into his mouth. “His mouth is so weird... It opens for different ways.” She does a demonstration with her fingers in front of her mouth. She makes a screech noise every time she opens her fingers.
“That’s going to get annoying...” I sigh. “Theres a saddle already on his back. Just try to sit in it without him bucking you off.”
She manages to climb on, the dragon nuzzling her hand. “Right, I think I can take it from here.” She clicks her feet into his sides (like how you would ride a horse) and they’re off. She’s whooping and having a great time.
As I watch, they do a few laps of the Anthrofauna tree before landing on a branch.
“That was awesome!” She gasps. “Can you teach me to fight? With being able to fight and ride a dragon, I’d really impress everyone in Vulture.”
A massive thump echoes through the forest, disturbing all the birds. I can faintly see a dimensional portal closing on the other side of the woods, near the ravine.
“I think that’s all the training you’re going to get. Because we need to go save my friends. Are you with me?”
She smiles. “Of course I’m with you. We’re friends.”
We’re friends.
