CHAPTER 14

I locked myself in my room. I didn't want to go to school because I'm afraid he'll be there. When he's around, I feel weak. And I'd do anything to avoid him.

My phone abruptly rang, and when I looked who it was, it was Vergeire. I immediately respond

"Hoy gaga! Hindi ka ba papasok? At saka mareng Tine, hinahanap ka ni Cyan, Kuenizer at Clark! Grabe! Pahingi namang isa!" Bungad niya pagkasagot ko ng tawag.

"A—Ano daw ang kailangan?" I asked, trying hard not to show any signs of emotion right now.

But, being Vergeire, she immediately noticed my current state. "What has happened to you? Do you want me to accompany you? Kahit naman ayaw mo, I'll be there!" She then hung up the phone.

I sigh and try to smile at myself in the mirror before fixing myself. "Celestine Figueroa, you've been through enough! You've got this!"

I smiled once more, but it didn't reach my eyes. I went into the kitchen to make something for Vergeire to eat when he arrived. Babae pa namang iyon ay matakaw.

"Tine? Hoy gaga! Nandito na ako!" Sigaw niya mula sa salas kaya sumungaw ako sa may pinto ng kusina at kinawayan siya. "At ano na naman ang problema mo? Kay Kuenzier na naman ba? Uupakan ko na talaga iyon!"

"He took care of me last night when I was so drunk," I said as I was preparing the food I had prepared. "I told him to leave me alone and to never come near me again. Tama ba 'yung ginawa ko? Para kasing may nakabara sa puso ko habang tinutulak ko siya palayo..."

"Nako! Hindi na pagkagusto iyan! Pagmamahal na 'yan!" She said it with a worried expression on her face. "Dalaga na siya! Natamaan na din ni kupido! Salamat!"

"I just like him! I don't love him! I'm sure of that...."I stated. It appears that I'm convincing myself rather than Vergeire.

I just like him, right?

"Mag-deny hanggang sa mamatay!" Umirap siya bago tumayo at bigla na lamang akong sinampal. "Kapag ba sinampal kita ulit ay mare-realize mo na hindi mo na siya gusto? Jusko, Tine! Kailan mo ba aaminin? Kapag hulog na hulog ka na?"

Kahit inis sa pagsampal niya sa akin ay bigla nalamang may pumasok na kung ano-ano sa isip ko. Everything Kuenzier and I did came flooding back to me.

"Ano? Akala ko ba hindi ka maiinlove? Ano, nakain bang lupa ang salita mo?" She burst out laughing as she said it.

"A—Anong g—gagawin ko?" I questioned. My realization has left me befuddled and shocked. Damn, I think I'm really in love with him!

"Ayun! Nasampal lang, narealize na! At anong tanong ba iyan? Syempre wala! Hindi mo naman agad agad makakalimutan ang taong mahal mo! Hayaan mo lang. Simply go with the flow, and everything will be fine."

I shrugged as I ate my chips. I realize that this is possibly what love is. It's perplexing and painful.

Dahil sa pagdadaldalan namin ni Vergeire ay halos lumipas pala ang ilang oras. Namalayan nalang namin iyon ng biglang may kumatok sa pinto ng condo ko.

"Tine, huwag ka sana magugulat pero..." She gave a devilish grin. "I've invited our classmates here, and we're going to have a great party!"

"W—what?"

Hindi na niya ako nasagot dahil pumunta na siya sa pinto at pinagbuksan iyon. Sunod-sunod na pumasok ang aming mga kaklase at agad napuno nang ingay ang buong condo ko.

"Clark! Andito kami sa kusina!" Sigaw ni Vergeire at kinawayan pa si Clark.

I just glared at her for what she did, but she just shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
