Chapter 4

GIOVANNI  (Yaayy new character) 

I pull up to one of our childhood homes and park before sighing and looking up to the house which I paid to have almost completely remodeled. Alessandro asked that we all meet back here to talk about something, it's always something new with my brother. None of us have seen each other in over a year so I agreed. 

I hop out of my car and grab my duffel bag before heading in. Within the first second of stepping in, I notice something different. Since my mom died this place has always felt hollow, too big and cold. For some reason, it felt more warm and lively at the moment. Alessandro doesn't know this but when he'd go away and leave Junior here with the nannies I'd come and check on him, he yells like a devil but sleeping by him is calming. 

I walk into the living room to hear the sounds of laughing and a television show. 

Shocked to find my dear brother and sister watching some magic show. I say, "Well, hello brother", only to be drowned out by his laughter at the juvenile show. A large man in the show yells "ALEX RUSSO!!" and my siblings look at each other before bursting out in laughter. As Alessandro falls off the couch laughing I lose my patience and yell. 

"CHE DIAVOLO STA SUCCEDENDO!" Both of their heads snap towards me and yet no one answers. "What is this? What type of children's show are you watching?" I ask again slower this time. [Translation: WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING]

"Ummmm...Uhh....Well, you see" Alessandro begins rambling. Suddenly an unknown voice speaks up behind me.

"Hi, I'm Zeniyah, I'm a pediatric nurse and I'm here................................." As I turn around to look at her, the rest of her words seem to drown out as I'm met with one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

The whole room seems to go silent as I stare into her eyes. She starts to shift her gaze anywhere but my face causing me to smirk. 

"Zeniyah this is our brother, Giovanni," Alex says rolling her eyes.

"Anywaysss" she says stepping by me and bending down to grab Junior. "Dinner is ready, all of you please join me in the dining room" she continues as she walks out the room while waking up Junior causing him to fuss. 

"Isn't she amazing, Fratello?" Alex says while hugging me, "Bentornato, ci sei mancato" [Translation: Welcome back, we missed you]. I kiss the top of Alex's head while petting her. Alex looks so much like mama it scares me sometimes. We all walk into the dining room to find a table set with macaroni, baked chicken, and stir-fried broccoli. The food smelt ravishing. 

The girl smiles at us and says "Dig in." We sit down and begin to eat while she feeds Junior. 

"So Zeniyah, you're a pediatric nurse right, so how did you end up working here for Alessandro?" Alexandria asks. This causes Sandro to choke on his food and begin to cough. 

"I don't work for Alessandro, I work at the Mariana Hospital downtown" She answers causing my head to snap up. 

"Excuse me, Bella, you don't work for Alessandro?" I ask. She shakes her head as an answer. I turn to Alessandro with anger in my eyes. 

"YOU LET A STRANGER INTO OUR CHILDHOOD HOME, WHAT BECAUSE SHE HAS A PRETTY FACE" I yell furious. Before Alessandro can answer Zeniyah gets up and begins to collect her dishes. I quickly stand and approach her, cornering her. 

"So what are you like one of his whore?" I ask with distaste. I'm shocked by my own anger I usually don't care about such things. Suddenly my face snaps to the side and I feel a stinging pain in my face. I hear gasps fill the room. She punched me. My chest begins to rise and fall as a shake with anger. 

I slowly turn my face to look her in the eyes to see tears in them. I feel a pang in my chest but ignore it. 

"I don't here but your brother called me for help taking care of his son and I felt sympathy. I didn't have to do this. It's been over a year since I had anyone to cook for or hang out with so I stayed. It's clear I overstayed my welcome so I'll take my fucking leave now" she says all in almost one breathe before pushing past me. 

ZENIYAH

I rush away with tears in my eyes. I usually have thick skin but something about being accused of such things by this man when I was simply trying to help hurt me. I head down the hall and into the room I slept in and grabbed my purse keys and phone, leaving the diaper bag and supplies on the bed. 

As I'm leaving the house I hear arguing coming from the dining room along with Junior crying causing my chest to tighten. 

I get into my car and drive up to the gate and press on the button causing the door to open. Once I'm a safe distance from the house I grab my phone and text Alessandro. "If Junior is still crying pick him up and place one hand below his butt and the other on the back of his head. You can walk around or stand in one place bouncing him, if he doesn't calm down a bit then it's his teething I left a cold spoon in the fridge and some frown strawberries in the freezer. Crush the strawberries so he won't choke" 

After I send the text I drive to the closest grocery store and pick up some Tylenol before heading home. 

I get up to my flat and open the door to be met with silence and sigh. I leaving my shoes at the door. Walking into my bathroom I braid my hair into small straight backs so I can wear a with tomorrow. After putting on a bonnet I get in bed and check my phone to see a message from Alessandro saying: "Thank you so very much, can I call you"

I chose not to answer since I'm tired so I turn on "superstore" for background noise before drifting off to sleep.

This chapter was kinda weak but I didn't get a lot of time to work on it with school and everything.
