Someone Like You

Chapter 29

Giovanni 

The rest of Zeniyah's birthday week went smoothly and now it's her first day back at work, I miss her so much she called earlier this morning at 5 am but I was asleep. 

I'm going through my to-do list of the day, next up is dealing with that little problem Niyah told me about, I pick up my phone calling one of my connections from Toronto. 

"Hello?" I hear after a couple of rings

"Hey Rob I need you to get one of your men to deal with someone for me," I say 

"Really? Who?" he says shocked since I don't usually do direct business in Toronto

"His names Jamaal Matthews," I say

"I'll do you one better, he works for me and he's been skimming off the top, I was planning to deal with him sometime this week so I'll have him gone by the end of the say," he says. 

"Good," I say 

"Hey Capo, the word is you died in Italy, clearly you're alive but no one knows sì?" he asks making me smirk 

"No, I'm dead as far as anyone knows," I say 

"I heard Marco is making noise back home," he says making me sigh. I say my goodbyes before hanging up the phone. If Marco thinks I'm dead and he's making noise, there's about to be ALOT of trouble. (you'll know who Marco is soon)

Zeniyah

I'm back at work and I couldn't be happier, I did choose the wrong day to come back though, apparently one of our biggest investors was coming in today, my supervisor was working us like janitors. 

After lunch, we're all alerted that the investor's here I head back to the front grabbing a patient to attend to, while different ways to calm your child to my patient's mother. My supervisor walks in, 

"Here we have nurse Samuels, she's one of our best pediatric nurses and she's only been here about a year," I hear my supervisor say. I look up to say thank you when I see the investor my clipboard falls out of my hand. 

"Hello Nurse Samuels," he says slyly

"Hello Alessandro," I say laughing at my supervisor's confusion.

"I take it you know each other?" she asks raising her eyebrow. 

"Yeah something like that," I say picking up my clipboard

"Oh is she a friend," she asks towards Sandro

"Nope she's my sister-in-law," he says confidently making me choke, I begin coughing violently while Sandro bursts out in laughter and my supervisor stares at us strangely. 

"Alright Nurse Samuels it's about 7:30 you can clean up this room then clock out for the night," she says as if I wasn't already doing so. I simply nod and say thank you. 

"Niyah, please wait for me before you leave," Sandro says and I nod.

I clean up the room sanitizing the counters and replacing everything I used for the night shift, before changing and clocking out. I text Sandro letting him know I'm in the parking lot and he texts me telling him he's on his way. After 5 minutes he knocks on the passenger window startling me and I open the door for him. 

"You're riding with me?" I ask him,

"Yeah there are some things I want to talk to you about so can we go to this cafe I know?" he says nervously. 

"Of course," I say and he begins giving me the directions. 

We get to the cafe and I order a Large Vanilla Ice Coffee, while he gets a cappuccino. Once we're settled into our booth which is a nice private study room type of area I ask him, 

"So you're the huge investor?" I say to him 

"Yup I'm surprised you didn't know," he says 

"Well I really don't know much about the hospital, I heard it was named after a nurse who worked there but passed away," I say while sipping my coffee. 

"Yup Mariana, Junior's mother and the love of my life," he says making my eyes almost pop out the sockets. 

"NO WAY," I said before correcting myself, "I mean I'm so sorry for your loss,"

"Yeah, children were her passion just like you, she always wanted at least 10 of them, but she had PCOS so it was hard for us to get pregnant, we had the money to so we started trying when we turned 18. When she got pregnant with Junior there were SO many complications but we had the best doctors in the world to make sure Junior stayed alive and healthy. We lost her during childbirth," he says looking down at the table but I could see tears in his eyes threatening to spill.

"After she died I couldn't bear the pain, I left Junior in the house with top paid nannies and left. Every time I looked at him I just saw something that took my love away, 2 weeks before me and you met I'd had a dream and Mariana was angry at me for abandoning our son, I feel like such a failure as a father," he says as he breaks down in tears. I quickly slid out my side of the booth and sit beside him hugging him. I rub his back until he finally calms down. 

"Look at me Sandro, you're an amazing father, when we met you couldn't even get Junior to stop crying so you could take a call now he sleeps on your chest at night, I've watched you feed him and play with him as a father should. You're not a failure, you were in pain which is understandable ok?" I say looking at him and he nods sniffling 

"If not for you coming, I don't think I would've ever gotten this far with Junior, I just wanted you to know the whole story," he says glancing at me. 

"Well I don't plan on leaving anytime soon," I say leaning into him we talk for a while longer and by the time we leave it's almost 10 so I decide to stay at the Russo's tonight. 

Giovanni

I walk out of the gym heading to the bathroom before I hear a voice say, 

"And why'd you tell my supervisor I'm your sister-in-law, me and Giovanni just started dating a week ago," I race down the stairs seeing it's my princess walking in with Sandro. I sneak up behind her and pick her up tickling her making her squeal out in laughter. I place her down and hug her waist from behind, 

"I missed you so much princess it's been so long," I say and she laughs

"Babe I saw you a week ago and we face time every night," she says

"Still," I mumble. She turns in my arms and sniffs before pulling away scrunching her face, 

"Ewww you're all sweaty and you got your gym smell all over me," she says trying to snake out my arms. 

"You want to wash away the gym smell with me," I suggest wiggling my brows. She shrugs nodding, I look at her in shock for a moment before pulling her with me upstairs. She laughs following behind me.
