Someone Like You

Chapter 8

ZENIYAH

My alarm goes off on my phone and I quickly shut it off so I don't wake up anyone in the house. I climb out of the extremely comfortable bed and head into the bathroom to brush, shower, and do my whole facial routine.

I walk out of the bathroom with my towel on after showering and sit on the bed in my towel while scrolling through Tiktok for a while. After a while, I get up and slide on my black scrubs from yesterday and my black crocs.

I head downstairs making sure to fix the bed and take everything with me. I get to the kitchen and cook some turkey bacon, eggs, and toast. I cover up all the extra's and place them on the table for everyone to eat when they get up. I also make some baby cereal, baby formula, and mashed fruits for Junior before putting them away for later. I check the time and see it's 7 am heading out the door to my car I start on my way toward the hospital not before stopping and buying myself an Ice Coffee, I walk into the hospital sipping on my Ice Coffee thinking about how much I missed Tim Hortons.

GIOVANNI

I groan waking up, staring up at the ceiling. I remember our houseguest and smile climbing out of bed. After brushing I slip on grey joggers and some Nike slides, I start heading downstairs and smell food causing me to pick up my pace.

I walk into the dining room with a small smile expecting Zeniyah, I'm met with a full course breakfast but no one there. I walk into the kitchen hoping she was there only to find Alex and Zia Teresa. I kiss them both on the head as they're both much shorter than me. I guess my face gave away a lot because my aunt asked,

"Was there someone you were expecting? You look disappointed" she said with a knowing smile.

"No," I grumble before leaving the kitchen and taking a seat at the table, and begin eating.

Soon everyone's at the table and we're eating, "So where's the pretty lady?" Teresa asks.

"I'm pretty sure she went to work, I felt her leave the bed around 5 am," Alex answers. I imagine Zeniyah waking up beside me, me laying my head between her tits as she sleeps peacefully. I snap out of my trance wondering how the hell I'm so infatuated with this woman.

"I think I'll call her later on I'm feeling like taking Junior for his first Coney Island visit later tonight. Who's up for it?" Alessandro asks.

"I, unfortunately, will be leaving for an overnight shift tonight," Teresa says.

"I'm free," Alex says excitedly. Now it's just left with me, every one turns in my direction. 

"I have a meeting, some shipments to overlook and some missing product I need to investigate but I'll be free after 5," I say. 

"Perfect, the nighttime is the best time, it's super-duper pretty," Alex says causing us to laugh at her childishness.

"Ok it's settled then, I'll call Zeniyah and confirm," Alessandro says. 

"Actually can you send me her number, I need to ask her something else so I'll just ask her that too while I'm at it," I say, there's a long pause before Alex and tia (aunt) begin laughing. 

"Sureee you need to ask her something else right, ok," Alessandro mocks me. 

My face hardens and I stand up abruptly walking out the room. I head into the gym and put on boxing gloves. I punch the bag for about an hour before heading to my room, changing into a white dress shirt, a black trench coat, and some black slacks.  

I grab the keys to my tesla along with my phone and head out. Connecting my phone to the car I hear a ding indicating I've received a message. I open it to see a number along with the message 

"Smile more brother, you're aging 😘," I smile shaking my head at Alex's antics. This here is why she's my favorite. 

I arrive at the docks and step out of the car, stepping up to the front gate I nod at the security guard who lets me in recognizing me almost immediately. 

Walking down the rows of shipping containers, I finally arrive at the one I'm looking for. Unlocking the door I step in to find cars, with mattresses to prevent them from smashing while they sail. I hop into one of the cars and unzip the custom seats to find them filled with the products. After making sure everything else was there I text my right-hand man Antonio letting him know that everything arrived in New York intact. 

Now to go deal with whoever thought it was ok to over-step me. 

ZENIYAH 

I sigh as another stubborn parent walks out the door. I'll never understand people who bring their kids here just to not listen to what they're advised. 

Thank god it's 2 pm meaning I can almost go home. I'm happy it isn't a 12-hour shift today but rather an 8 hour one. I start going over the charts of my patients and signing off some prescriptions before giving them to the front desk for filing. 

Since I have nothing else to do I head to the locker room and decide to play on my phone while I wait for 3:30 to clock out. After about 15 minutes my phone begins to vibrate and a blocked number is calling. I ignore it knowing it's probably spam or a wrong number since I have no friends here. 

The number calls 2 more times before I give up and answer the call. I silently wait for someone to speak before I hear a voice that sends chills down my spine, "Hello princess, about time you picked up," He says causing my breath to hitch. 

"Giovanni?" I ask confused. 

"Yes, I love you saying my name by the way," he says, I can hear the smirk in his tone. 

"How'd you get my number?" I ask

"Don't mind that, I wanted to call and ask if you'd like to join me this evening at Coney Island," he says causing my jaw to drop 

"Listen you don't have to, I mean Alex and Sandro are going to be there anyways bu-," he rambles on sounding upset

"I'd love to spend the evening with you," I said interrupting his rant. 

"Oh great, can I pick you up at 6:30ish," he says. I think for a second if I want him to know where I live. I decide if I want him to trust me I have to first trust him too. 

"Ok text me, and I'll text you back my address," I say before saying bye and hanging up. I have butterflies in my stomach as I smile packing up my stuff and heading home. 

Since it's only 4 when I get home I lay out my outfit and decide to take a quick hour nap.
