Chapter 44

Zeniyah 

I stare at Alex suddenly feeling uneasy, she frowns sensing my hesitation, 

"Let me guess I'm not his type?" she asks

"It's not that, well I mean he's only dated black girls, but that's not the point, I'm very protective of my brother, so I feel like it would ruin our relationship you know," I say trying to reason with her

"So what you're saying is that you don't trust me?" she asks

"Alex that's not what I'm saying but you just got out of a relationship with someone you knew your whole life, you might not be emotionally ready to deal with someones like Malik," I tell her and her eyes immediately turn cold

"I wasn't asking you to tell me how I feel Zeniyah, I just needed you to be a supportive friend," she says 

"I'm trying to look out for you," I say defensively. 

"Shouldn't you have figured out by now that I don't like people meddling in my love life," she says raising her voice

"So you'd prefer if you were still with Theo and have him sleeping with girls every time you turned around right?" I snap back almost yelling

"That's fucking low," she says squinting her eyes and glaring at me

"Last I checked, you told Giovanni not to date me when he was going to make his first move," I say crossing my arms across my chest. 

"Because my brother was damaged, he'd been through shit, I didn't think you could handle him," she yells in my face and I step up to her face before saying 

"You sure as hell could never handle my brother," I say before storming out the kitchen. 

I walk into the living room to see Malik and Giovanni in front of the TV holding controllers but the game was paused, 

"Malik I'm leaving," I say grabbing my purse, and walking out the room. 

"Wait Niyah what happened," I heard Malik say running after me. 

"Babe, what's wrong?" Giovanni asks.

"I'm fucking leaving," I say slipping on my shoes. Giovanni grabs my arm pulling me into his arms, 

"Common babe talk to me please," he says 

"How about you talk to your ungrateful ass sister," I say pushing him away

"Ok but don't leave please, go upstairs and cool off with Malik and I'll talk to Alex," he says pleading with me. 

"Fine," I say snatching my hand out of his hold and storming up the stairs. Malik follows behind me and we walk into one of the empty guest rooms. I pull out my phone and switch from apps not doing anything in particular but just not wanting to confront Malik. After about 10 minutes he speaks up, 

"You ready to stop being petty?" he asks

"I'm not being fucking petty," I mumble 

"Stop cussing for no reason and yes you are, I heard you arguing in the kitchen, how you gonna throw that back in her face like that?" he says 

"Yeah that was wrong but why's she acting like I have to agree with her liking you," I say pissed off.

"You could've easily said you didn't know or that you were going to ask me, so tell me what's really wrong?" he says. I look away ignoring him and he sighs sitting beside me, I relax leaning my head on his shoulder. 

"I don't know I just don't want things to be ruined I guess," I say shrugging

"Well I'm not going to date her anyway, my head not in the place for dating yet and it definitely wouldn't be Giovanni's lil sis you get me?" he says and I nod.
