BOTH SHOPS WERE destroyed, and Daniel is now apparently entering the All Valley tournament by force. However, Daniel only saw one answer to his problem; money. And how were they going to get that money? Sell Mr. Miyagi's bonsai tree. He knew that was going to be a risk, and he would need to climb a big mountain, but there was really no other choice.
"I think you should've asked him before going after his tree like this," Darcy says, as she and Daniel walked along the trails of the woods towards Devil's Caldron. "I mean, you really think he hid it on a cliff so people would go digging it up?" She adds. "Look," Daniel says. "We don't sell the tree, he loses his business. The shop's already destroyed, I mean no special thanks to your ex and his friends!" Says Danny. Darcy rolls her eyes in response. "But without the business, he has no income. This tree is like free money in the bank!" He explains to her.
"Great, so now we're basically robbing a bank!" Darcy sighs. "Look! There's the Devil's Cauldron!" Daniel pointed out. It looked like it might once have been part of the crater of a volcano long ago.
Now, it was a giant cliff around a cove with almost vertical sides down to craggy rocks in the ocean. It was low tide then, so they could see the rocks as the waves broke against them. It was a beautiful place, Darcy could even admit. Daniel was nervous, too. He wasn't very enthusiastic about dangling right above it from a rope. But they had no other choice.
Daniel examined the cliff with his binoculars. "There!" He calls out. "Can you see the tree from here?" Darcy asks, she'd be surprised if he were able to. "No, but it's the hardest place in the whole world of Devil's Cauldron to reach. That must be where Mr. Miyagi put the tree!" He says. He was right. Working slowly and carefully, letting out ropes to lower themselves, he and Darcy reached the slightest indentation and there, just as he had imagined, was the natural bonsai. ☕︎☕︎☕︎ IT WAS INCREDIBLE how the little plant had survived, clinging to the side of a cliff for almost fifty years. Daniel took a shovel and carefully dug around the tree's routs. "Nice and easy, I'm not gonna hurt you." He assures the plant as if it could speak. "From now on, regular haircuts, gourmet food and no more wind." He says to it.
Darcy had to smile a bit. "You know, you'd make a great plant dad someday." She retorts. Danny gives her a playful glare, then tugged at the plants roots to loosen them. "What? You think it's gonna speak back to you or something?" She giggles as he continues to talk to the plant. "Hey, watch it!" He teases back with a playful smirk.
However, at the same instant that the tree came loose, his rope slipped a bit, and Daniel dropped a few inches with it. "Danny!!" Darcy panics, grabbing his wrist. "I'm ok, I'm—whoa!" He slips once more, but luckily Darcy was there to hold him. However the plant didn't make it. The tree began to tumble down the side of the cliff like a rag doll, and it landed right in a puddle of saltwater on the rocks at the bottom.
"The saltwater will kill it!" Daniel panicked. "Don't panic!" Darcy tells him. "We'll go down there together and get it. Follow me," she says, leading the way for them. Their ropes weren't quite long enough to reach the bottom. They had to unhook themselves and drop the last couple of feet.
They found the tree right away. Darcy took the top off her water bottle, and washed the brine off the bonsai with the fresh water. Daniel wrapped the roots in a plastic bag. "Ok we're gonna need some fresh dirt, moss, and clean water as quickly as possible." Said Danny. He wanted to hurry home.
But when they went to their ropes, they weren't there! Someone was pulling their ropes up the cliff! "HEY!" Daniel and Darcy yelled. "Hey, LaRusso! How ya doing down there?" An all too familiar voice sneers from the top. Darcy and Daniel exchanged looks; they knew who it was. Mike. Again. *** A/N: hey hey everyone! Here's the next chapter, hope y'all like this one!
