AFTER THE FOUR mile run, Danny continued to workout in Mr. Miyagi's garden by using a heavy bag for punching practice. It was definitely easier to do when he had somebody to help him hold the bag, but this time he didn't have that.
The gate to the garden flung open. Mike Barnes stormed in. He was beyond pissed at Danny for calling the police on him and turned him in for stealing all the bonsai from the shop.
"You got no proof!" He yelled at Danny. Once he saw Mike, his heart began to race. Not this again. "So, who left the application then? The tooth fairy?" Danny retorts back to him. That's when Danny immediately regretted saying that. Mike blew up.
He began to attack Danny fiercely, throwing a harsh kick to his kidney, then a punch to his face. He then had Danny around a winning clinch within seconds. In fact, Mike had Danny around the throat and he was really hurting him. "Beat it, punk!" Daniel heard. It was Silver! Mike released Danny and turned to attack him.
But Silver took him down within a matter of only seconds. Danny was impressed as he watched, this man knew his stuff. "Thanks man," Danny panted, trying to still gasp for air after that choke hold. "Don't mention it. But see what I mean about the sweeps? They're definitely helpful. Especially in situations like this." He explains.
Danny nodded in response. Silver asked him who Mike was. He tried to explain the best he could. "I thought he was seriously going to kill me!" Danny says. "That's not what karate's about..." Silver said. "It's for defense only."
"So I've been told," Danny said. He didn't need another lesson in defense and honor. He needed more lessons in karate. Danny then asked Silver about the sweep he used, and asked if he could show it again. He demonstrated the technique and Danny got it down right then and there.
"Hey, you're good kid." Silver compliments. "You know Daniel, everyone needs a teacher..." he began to get an idea. "I'm opening up the Cobra Kai dojo again. Any time you want to train, I'm there for you. No strings attached, and I mean that." Silver tells him.
Danny thought about this offer. It was almost impossible for him to imagine training with somebody other than Mr. Miyagi. It was also almost impossible to train by himself.
Long after Silver had gone, Danny was still trying to perfect the sweep the man had shown him. He just couldn't seem to get it right. He wondered again about Silver's offer to him.

WHEN DANIEL ARRIVED in the shop, Mr. Miyagi's face lit up with a smile. Darcy was there too. She just delivered two dozen planters. "Look, Daniel-San. Beautiful," Mr. Miyagi smiled, admiring the work from Darcy. "I stayed up all night making them," she says. "I'm glad you like them, Mr. Miyagi."
"Yeah, they're great." Danny said quickly. His mind was on the tournament right now, and Silver. He wasn't thinking much about Darcy's pots. "Mr. Miyagi, do you know how to sweep?" Danny asks. "Would you mind showing me?"
"Couldn't have asked at a better time, Daniel-San." Mr. Miyagi replied. He then stood up and walked to the back of the room, with Danny following him. "I don't mean to get into anything complicated," Danny said. "Just the basics would be great." He was really excited for Mr. Miyagi to be helping him with his training. He'd be sure that Mr. Miyagi would never let him get beaten by Mike. Mr. Miyagi crossed the room. There, in the corner were all the shop's cleaning tools. He then took a broom and handed it to Danny.
"Very easy," He said. "Left hand up, right hand down. First sweep left, then right," He explained, demonstrating it. Darcy couldn't help but to laugh at him, and Danny felt embarrassed. "Hey! This isn't a joke! You don't want to show me, then fine. Don't show me. But don't go making fun of me! Sorry for asking. It won't happen again!" With that, he turned around and stormed off out of the store.
He thought he would be better off with no help at all than whatever that was supposed to be in there. But that's when Danny remembered; he did have other help. No strings attached. Silver was working on a kata in front of the mirror when Danny arrived to the dojo. He watched in complete amazement. When he finished and noticed Danny standing there, he looked at him as if waiting for him to speak.
"I uh, gave your offer some thought." He says. "And?" Silver questioned. "And if it's not too much trouble, I'd like to take you up on it." He explains. "Trouble? Are you kidding? It would be an honor to teach the defending champion! When would you like to start?" Silver asked. "Whenever it's convenient for you," Danny replied."How about now?" Silver smiled. "There's a gi hanging up on the dressing room. I think it'll fit you. What do you say?" "Absolutely."
