"Why can't you just understand that I'm not comfortable with that right now?" I asked Stokeley again.
"She's my best friend," he rolled my eyes.
"Yeah and you just told me you have a thing for her last night so why would I be okay with her spending the night at your house?" I looked at him like he was stupid.
"You know things were much more easier when our relationship stayed in your office," he yelled at me. "Now we have to have a baby and I have to deal with you."
"We don't have to do anything, you can leave I'm not holding you hostage," I frowned as his words sunk in.
"You're too controlling," he smacked his lips.
"I don't understand how me not being comfortable with something is controlling, Stokeley. I'm trying my hardest to compromise with you," I explained.
"I really should have used a condom," he shook his head.
My eyes filled with tears as I looked at him, "She can sleep over. I don't care anymore, do what you want."
I grabbed my brief case and Keys, leaving out of my front door. Stokeley followed behind me and then I locked my front door.
I got into my car, driving away while he stood in my driveway, watching me.
I don't have the strength to do this anymore.
"So, do we have any new ideas today?" I asked my group as we gathered in a conference room.
"I- I have an idea," my new assistant raised her hand.
I usually don't take ideas from my assistant but what's the worst that can happen? "Let's hear it."
"Wait really?" She looked shocked.
"You want this a promotion, then show me why you deserve it," I gave her the floor.
"So I know you're a man and everything but I really think you could bring in a bigger crowd if you sold cosmetics as well. I put together this small box it would come with about 10 makeup products delivered to the customers doorstep once a month. Like a monthly subscription. And we could also do that for men but it could be shaving products or tshirts or something."
I nodded my head as I took in her idea. "That's actually a pretty good idea. I like this. So what would we call these boxes?"
"Well I thought you'd want to do that so I didn't come up with a name," she frowned.
"Okay, well it's your idea, come up with a pitch & name for the product and that promotion and partial credit is your," I offered.
"Wait really?" Jessica stood up and smiled. "I'm on it."
I smiled at her excitement and sat up in my chair. "Well I think that about concludes this meeting, break everyone and we will meet back here on Monday so Jessica can pitch her idea."
"Wait I had an idea," Sam raised his hand.
"Not a good one," I chuckled and stood from my chair. "Have a good weekend everyone."
I walked out of the conference room and was met by Stokeley, bending down on one knee. I mentally rolled my eyes, "what the fuck are you doing?"
"Will you marry me?" He asked as he pulled a ring out.
"No, get up off the floor," I rolled my eyes dramatically and walked away, entering my office.
He followed behind me and closed and locked the door once we were alone in the room. "Why not?"
"Stokeley we literally just broke up you said you wished we never happened," I explained.
"Yeah but I got you a ring," he frowned.
"Putting a ring on my finger is not going to solve the problems we are having you know that right?" I asked.
"But why not?" He asked.
"I have to go, I'll text you when I schedule our next appointment," I collected my belongings from my desk and headed for the door.
"Just like that?" He asked.
"Yeah just like that."
