Calum
"Don't sedate him," I said, rushing into the trauma room where Rider laid, extremely upset, "Just wait a moment,"
"Sage," he cried, his voice strained, "Sage,"
"Hey Rider, I am Dr Calum. We need to make sure you're all okay before you can see Sage. Do you think you could tell me where it hurts?"
"No,"
"Why not?" I said, "It's okay to be hurt, and upset, but if you keep moving you might become more hurt, and we don't want that,"
"I'm scared,"
"Well that's perfectly normal! I am going to take a quick look at you, and then we can have a little chat and go up to have an x-ray,"
"What's your name?"
"Dr Calum. Do you remember what happened?"
"A car crash,"
"You're probably all shaken up then, we will make sure to get you something special like chocolate pudding later. Can you wiggle your toes?"
He did, and I smiled, not seeing any cuts or visible injuries besides a slash on his cheek.
"Have you done an ultrasound?"
"All clear,"
"You are doing a brilliant job!"
He was most definitely the Rider I knew of. He had the same brown hair and the same small build of who she sometimes left school with, and the stubborn but quiet nature that Gia possessed.
"I want Sage,"
"I know you do buddy, I know. You can see them soon, I promise. This cut on your cheek needs some fixing up,"
"Will it leave a scar?"
"It might do, yeah,"
"My friend has a scar above her eyebrow, so we will both have them on our face. I have to move away though, that's why we were driving,"
"I think your friend is my daughter," I whispered, his eyes finding mine.
"She is called Gia, and she is really funny, and kind, and people always used to make fun of her appearance but I think she is pretty. They don't now though. I don't have a crush on her because I have a crush on Hattie, but she is my best friend. Is that your Gia?"
"It sounds like it,"
"Okay. Is Sage okay?"
"They are also going to go and have a CT,"
"What about their mum and dad?"
"They might be in surgery, I don't know yet. How about we head up to CT and see if we can get this neck brace off you?"
"Okay,"
I lifted the sides of the beds up and helped move the bed, taking him up in the lift to get the x-ray.
"I'm cold,"
"We will find you a blanket,"
"Is Sage okay?"
"They will be, I promise,"
"They protected me from the glass. Where are their mum and dad?"
"Aren't they your mum and dad?"
"No!" he shouted, "No!"
"Hey, hey, stay still bud,"
"They aren't my mum and dad,"
