tw: mentions suicidal thoughts
Calum

"Daaaaaaaad,"

"Mhm?"

"Please can we bake now?"

Gia and Rider stood infront of me with aprons on, and big smiles on their faces. I had heard them giggling in the kitchen, choosing to ignore it so that I didn't ruin their surprise, but I hadn't expected them to create their own chef hats out of spare paper.

"Well since you look the part, I suppose we should!"

"Thank you!"

"Thank you!"

I put down my phone- which I had been messaging a nervous Michael on about his date- and followed them to the kitchen. Gia got out a bowl, so I read what we needed on the box and helped Rider find the ingredients.

Excitedly, they poured the powder into the bowl, and helped me measure out the other ingredients we needed, then took turns mixing it in.

We poured it into the tin and then I put it on the oven, setting the timer.

"That was the first cake I baked,"

"You were really good," Gia said, "We have to tidy up while it bakes,"

"Okay,"

I ran water in the washing up bowl and washed the equipment as they passed it to me, then they cleaned the work tops and sat together on the floor to watch the cake.

I took a couple of photos and sent them to the guys, then sat beside them and waited too.

"This is really fun, thank you dad, and Gia. Thank you for letting me live here,"

"This is your home now, bud. You two are gonna love being siblings ay?"

"Yes," Gia said, hugging my arm, "When you get adopted, will you change your name, Rider?"

"To Hood,"

"But your first name,"

"No,"

"Oh, okay. I changed mine,"

"I like my name, Sage says it is really cool,"

"It is a pretty cool name," I said, "You guys have some craft kits to do after lunch if you want,"

"Can't we go on a bike ride?"

"Rider hasn't got a bike. When I get paid again, I'll get him a bike,"

"I don't know how to ride a bike, or swim,"

"I will teach you, don't worry. Gia didn't know either,"

"I still can't swim,"

"Both of you can learn together,"

The timer went off and I took the cake out, both of them looking in awe and excitement; I out it at the back of the worktop so they wouldn't get burnt, then they hung their aprons up.

"What would everyone like in their sandwiches?"

"Do we have ham?"

"We do,"

Both of them asked for it, so I made them both a sandwich and then chopped up carrot sticks and cucumber for them, sending them to the table.

I made some for Sage as well, then took it upstairs and knocked on their door.

"Hey darling, I have lunch for you,"

"Okay,"

"Can I bring it in?"
