We arrived at the court building early and met up with our lawyer Mr. Donovan. He looked sharp and ready to put up a good fight if it was needed.

"Good afternoon, Let's head to our room before the court session starts and get our ducks in a row."

We followed behind Mr.Donovan inside the court building. I had been inside this building once or twice before due to my line of work. I slipped my hand in Jackson's as we passed my mother and father. I had no words for them. I didn't even look at them, There was no point, They wouldn't speak to me. I wasn't their favourite child.

Once inside our room Jackson squeezed my hand and whispered the words " I love you," in my ear. It made me feel a bit better, I was glad wasn't doing this alone. We sat down in the chairs and Dalton spoke.

"I have every belief that the courts will appoint you both as the safest home for the girls, Well you two aren't married, you do have a thriving child in your home already and space and funds to have two more. You both have stable jobs and Zev, you own home should they ask that you move from the home of Maddox Vincent."

We had explained our housing situation, right down to each person having their wing. From the outside, the house looked just like stated a large house. The inside was where things got interesting, More so when you found out there were two levels in the basement and that, close to three hundred people lived in the house and more that lived pretty close.

Most of this I didn't even know until Jackson had explained it to Dalton in a short detail and then me later that night in full fucking detail.

"Yes, Should that be the case my home is safe for children."

"I doubt they will ask you to move, however, If the children go to your care. It's up to the local children's welfare branch to determine if it's safe for the children to stay there. I'm positive they will have no problems with the living situation.

The look that Dalton and Jackson shared told me there was a level of bullshit behind the scenes they were not about to tell me, I wondered if that was because Dalton knew more about Jackson's line of work and Maddox than they were letting on to. At this rate it wouldn't surprise me after all, This was one of the lawyers Alexi had suggested.

Shortly after our discussion, the court was in session. We took our seats at the front as did my sister, our parents, and their lawyer. We stood as the judge came in and sat again when we were told to. The judge and I met eyes. I had met this judge before, I had been called to the stand by this judge. As he saw Jackson, I could have sworn the judge sighed.

As the judge opened the case and quickly went through the papers I whispered to Jackson about how the judge didn't seem happy to see him and if he knew the judge. He said not really, but there was a chance that they could have mafia money lining their pockets, but he wasn't positive since this was not his usual grounds, just weapons and shit. That made sense though because look at me. I was also lining my wallet with mafia money. Maddox found all kinds of people he could help financially if they helped him.

"Alright, I seem to up to speed on the current events and deals leading to where were are now, Is the mother present in the courtroom?"

"Yes, that would be me."

"The children's welfare agency has some compelling points here, In your own words do you agree with their findings?"

"It's not my fault!"

"And who's fault is it that you took drugs and left your children unattended for two days? Please tell me that."

"Not mine. I---"
