Ravenna Chernoff was pissed.

It was not just Mal that is going to be in the expedition, but Alina as well. How Alina managed to do that, she was not sure. But she was definitely annoyed that she was left alone while her two best friends drove away to the sunset, or rather the fold, together.

After watching the skiff drove to the fold, her annoyance died down when she realized the possibility of Alina and Mal being killed by Volcras. All she could do was to pray that the both of them would come out unscathed when the expedition finished.

Aleksander took note of the worry in her eyes but did not give any comforting words. He knew if he talked about the expedition right now, she will start ranting about how she should be with her best friends and he is some evil bastard who won't let her go on an adventure.

"Now come, my little shadow, I need to fill out some paperwork before we leave for the little palace," Aleksander spoke before walking away from the piers, towards his tent. He really did only come to the first army base to retrieve her, what a pain in the arse.

Ravenna was sitting on his table, next to his paperwork, reading a boring book as Aleksander rushed to finishes his paperwork. She tried to convince him to slow down so there won't be any mistakes made.

But he just gave her a look that said he doesn't make any mistakes then goes back to doing his own thing. Cocky bastard.

She didn't understand why she had to be there with him when she could have gone somewhere and do something more productive. Feeling bored, she started to sighed loudly every time she flipped a page.

"Tone it down," Aleksander ordered when he couldn't tolerate the noise anymore.

"So authoritative. I like it," Ravenna smirked at him, closing her book. She finally got his attention, "You should treat me like the others more, you know."

He stared at her, giving her an innocent smile that said he doesn't know what she's talking about, "What do you mean? I always treat my Grishas equally."

"Yeah, no. You're more gentle with me while you act superior with others. See the difference?" Ravenna scoffed.

"But I am more superior than them," he answered smugly. Ravenna looked at him incredulously before smacking her book to the back of his head, which made his smirk drop.

"See, you will kill anyone before they even got the chance to do that," Ravenna trying to prove her point. "So stopped giving me special treatments and stop playing favorites. Maybe if you do that, I will get along with the others more."

"If I do that then I won't have any other ways to seduce you."

Ravenna blushed while looking away from him, biting her lips to suppress the smile that tugged on her lips.
