Ravenna never wanted to slap someone so hard.
She didn't understand why she couldn't ride with Alina in the carriage. Not only it was much more comfortable than sitting on a horse, but she can also accompany and protect Alina from Ivan. Yes, it is definitely all about protecting Alina, not the comfortable carriage.
"You ready?" Aleksander asked from beside her.
"No. I hate sitting on top of a horse. Why can't I be in the carriage with Alina?" Ravenna snapped at him. She sucked in a breath as she climbed her horse and sat on top of its back.
"Because I like your company," Aleksander's smirk got wider at the flush on Ravenna's cheeks.
"Alina likes my company too," she retorted.
"I just want you by my side, is that so wrong?"
Ravenna ruffled her dark blonde locks to hide her blushing cheeks from Aleksander and trotted her horse forward when the carriage moved. She ignored Aleksander's stare, hoping that a tree branch will hit him right in his handsome face so she could have a good laugh.
Sweat dripped down Ravenna's back as she panted silently, her back was killing her. A couple of minutes into the woods, Ravenna realized that Aleksander and her had moved away from the carriage and seemed to be traveling in their own direction.
"We're getting farther away from the carriage you know?" Ravenna informed him.
"I know," Aleksander replied.
"Then why aren't we following them?" Ravenna frowned as she stopped her horse.
Noticing that she stopped, he turned back and galloped to her. "The path we're using has fewer trees and a meadow, I know how you can be a bit claustrophobic sometimes. So I thought it will be better for you if we use a path that will lead us to a more open space."
Her brown eyes looked at him in wonder. She never told anyone that she is claustrophobic, not even Mal or Alina. It warmed her heart to know that he noticed little things about her.
She grinned at him before galloping away to the supposed meadow, "Race you!"
A soft smile formed on Aleksander's lips as she strode away from him. He couldn't help but think that she was breathtaking. Her dark blonde hair blowing softly in the wind, her brown eyes twinkling with mischief, and pink lips looking so damn kissable. He reminisced about the times when he got to run his fingers through her soft hair. Early mornings, late nights.
"I like the view," Ravenna said when they arrived at the meadow. She stared at the blooming wildflowers and took in the beautiful view.
Aleksander took a glance at the view in front of him, "You do?"
"Yes!"
"You are my best view," he couldn't help but tease, wanting to see her reaction.
She just looked at him disgustingly. Where did he even learn how to flirt?
