flashback;
Genya and Ravenna were sitting in the library with books strewn everywhere on the table. Genya had easily become Ravenna's favorite person in the palace; they had become good friends. Although she might have been a good friend, she was not a good student. Genya had been trying to teach her the history of Grisha and any important events. But Ravenna was either not listening or joked around too much.
"So, to recap. There's only one thing worse than the Grisha dying." Genya pointed her finger to the word 'dying' in the clipboard. A piece of paper was covering another word. Genya really had to teach Ravenna like she was a child so she paid attention.
"Boom," Genya revealed the word.
"The General... I knew it," Ravenna said with such conviction while her fists banged the table.
"No!" Genya face-palmed. "It was the General dying, you tarthead. He can't save Ravka if he's dead can't he?" Genya was done.
"Look, Genya, I hate studying especially when it's all about theoretical stuff." Ravenna groaned. "Can we take a break?"
"Then it will be the tenth time you took a break for the past 3 hours," Genya massaged her forehead. How did she get roped into this mess, it was definitely the General's fault. "You know what, we're done for the day."
Ravenna threw her hands to the air in glee, "Finally, done for the day!" She began to clean up the mess she made and packed up all of the things she owned, which is only one notebook.
"Your lesson's done. I never said anything about letting you go," Genya smirked as she inched closer to Ravenna. "So what's between you and the General?"
"Nothing, we just flirted I guess," Ravenna shrugged, trying to avert her eyes from Genya's gaze.
Genya rolled her eyes, not believing any of it, "Don't lie! I saw your hickeys like three days ago. You slept with him! A couple of times!"
"I know. I know. Sorry," Ravenna giggled. She looked at Genya, cocking her head to the side with an innocent look.
"I told you not to sleep with him," Genya slapped Ravenna's arms which made her yelp.
"But I was horny, Gen," Ravenna responded. Her eyes held a mischievous glint that seemed to reflect the corner of her mouth, which were curved into a smirk.
Her response just irked Genya so much that she couldn't help but let her forehead fall onto the table. She only looked up when Ravenna poked her side asking if her forehead was okay. Genya breathed in deeply before collecting herself, it was her own fault for picking a friend in Ravenna.
"How long has this been going? Are you like dating?" Genya couldn't help but ask. Pissed but curious at the same time.
"Like three months? and no. I never say yes to dating," Ravenna sighed while Genya looked at her in concern, "Seriously, Genya, it's not that big of a deal."
