Your POV

The jet ride to Vienna is nearly silent. Tony and Rhodey are speaking in silence while Vision and I sit ignoring one another. Nat said she was meeting us but had to handle something first. My guess is that she went to see Steve for Peggy's funeral. I'm not an idiot.

"Wanda is alright with you signing the Accords?"

I look up at the glowstick and hold back my scowl, forcing out words.

"Yeah, why?"

His head tilts in curiosity, taking in my body language. It causes me to shift uncomfortably, not enjoying the idea of Vision looking at me or being within 5 feet of me to begin with.

"It's just that...the Accords goes against everything she believes in. They remind her of being at Hydra, listening to orders, otherwise staying locked up in a cell until a mission is granted to her. You don't feel the same? Given your past...circumstances."

Well, fuck.

I didn't even think of it like that. The Accords, now that he put the idea in my head, do somewhat remind me of Hydra...But it's not the same. This is for safety, this is for protection of other people. Wanda sees that, right? We aren't perfect, signing this will protect everyone else. We can't keep being selfish and thinking we can roam wherever we want, fighting off these villains as if we are in some action movie or something. It's just unrealistic.

"I can sense your confusion, Y/N. Allow me to assure you that you are on the right side of things."

His voice is gentle, reassuring, and for the first time ever, doesn't make me want to blast him to Asgard.

He's right, this is the right side. We destroyed families without even knowing it, all because we are too focused on the mission, not even thinking of anything else that goes into it. Wanda doesn't see that. She made a mistake and of course I don't blame her, but her losing control did hurt and kill a bunch of people. We never think about those possibilities: the loss of control, the emotions that go into this.

One slip up and lives are at stake. She has to see that that needs to be controlled more. Proper precautions need to be taken. We can't just free rein it anymore.

"Right," I say and focus out at the clouds, thinking about what this could mean for Wanda and I.

Earlier was...amazing.

It was our first time together. And it was better than I could've ever imagined. But something about it felt...almost like a goodbye.

It's not goodbye, right? This won't ruin us?

* * *

"When stolen Wakandan vibranium was used to make a terrible weapon, we in Wakanda were forced to question our legacy. Those men and women killed in Nigeria, were part of a goodwill mission from a country too long in the shadows. We will not, however, let misfortune drive us back. We will fight to improve the world we wish to join. I am grateful to the Avengers for supporting this initiative. Wakanda is proud to extend its hand in peace."

King T'Chaka is talking until T'Challa shrieks for everyone to get down. I grab Nat as I see the explosion and cover her body with mine, using my powers to form a forcefield around us as parts of the building blow in our direction.

She gasps in shock, staring up at me in horror at what just happened. We look over and see T'Challa over King T'Chaka's body, me running to the ledge to see if I can see anything.

Vision makes his way over to us, helping us stand. I see Tony helping everyone get out as fast as possible.

"Get as many people as you can onto the ground safely. No one gets left behind, understood?" Vision nods and gets to work, Nat is looking around but I grab her.
