Chapter 26: A deal without flaws, as it seems

The exchange student felt her head throbbing in pain. That damn stark light was still fresh in her memory.

Her eyes were hurting from the light despite being closed. She hastily shook her head, pigtails bobbing along.

A soft tap on her shoulder made her halt. Miko cracked one of her eyes open and winced at the light. It wasn't bright, but given her conditions it was bright enough.

Miko looked to her left. Raphael sat there and fiddled with his glasses. To her right sat Jack. Jack had tapped her.

The girl chocked out a cough. Her throat felt dry.

„Ya okay?" a voice asked.

Miko snapped her head up, giving her headache a little exercise. The first thing her mind could process was a person. A grey metallic person.

She seemed to be tall, but since she was sitting criss-cross on the ground Miko couldn't tell. Sitting on her head was some sort of metallic bat. It's glistening ruby red eyes fixated on the robot in her lap.

Another robot that looked strikingly familiar to the lap cuddler stood by and held onto the female robots shoulder.

Behind her laid a magnificently silver robot panther. His eyes were fixed on the only three human children in the room. Them.

Miko couldn't hold her usual annoying behavior back, after noticing a slight, but very worrying detail. „What the hell?!? Let US GO!" she shouted. Lia had chained one of their ankles at the wall.

„Sshhhhhh." she hushed and held a finger to her lips. Her head mentioned to a bunch of small robotic babies lying on an horrendous amount of multicolored blankets. „Ya will wake 'em up."

Amongst those babies Miko noticed her baby-guardian Bulkhead snuggling with a baby Wheeljack. Raphael noticed something like that as well. „Bee..." he whispered.

„These babies need their sleep." she spoke softly.

Considering the eye color of her surroundings, Jack decided to show some courage. „What did you do to them, you con-scum?"

Behind Lia something cawed at them from beyond those stairs. Lia grimaced. Her mismatched eyes shimmering purple for a split second. She was so damn done for the day.

To her luck Ravage spoke on her behalf. He roared at the audicity of the human male and stood up. Stepping in front of her he defended his mother. „You dare to offend our Carrier like that human?!?" his voice felt like charred iron over Jack and his friends.

„Ravage please." the iron woman pleaded. „Let 'em be."

He snarled at the human again, before turning back and lying behind her again, his tail still flicking up and down in anger. Lia stroked Frenzy's head and then spoke again. „I'm in fact not a Decepticon, just because I house some of them. I'm a... rouge? Was that what he called me?" she asked no-one in particular.

„Yes." she reminded herself. „Yes that was it. A rouge."

Helping up Frenzy, Lia sent him and Rumble off to play. She eyed the girl in the group. „Y'know ya hit poor Frenzy quite hard back there."

„And I'd kick that damn con again if I'd get the chance." Miko snarked at her.

„Enough!" Ravage barked out. Ratbat fluttered his wings at the sudden volume.

The panther jolted up and wandered over to the chained kids. His paws met the concrete ground like hammers as he moved over. He snarled and bared his silver fangs.
