"Happy Christmas Pete," James said, as the boy made his way towards the breakfast.
"Happy Christmas James!" the small boy exclaimed, looking at his friend, sitting down at the table, and throwing some pancakes in his plate. Mia immediately topped them with some syrup, and the boy smiled graciously towards the woman. Marlene and Lily had left late last night, their families insisting that they spend Christmas at their own homes.
"Where do you think Audrey is?" Mia asked, looking at the four.
James groaned dramatically in response.
"Do we have to wait for her?" he asked his mother.
"Yes we do James," Mia said, laughing at the boy. He rolled his eyes in response, and continued stabbing his pancakes.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry," Audrey hurriedly said as she jogged down the staircase, her hair loose. She ran towards the table, grabbing a slice of toast from Sirius's plate hurriedly, and he flailed his arms around dramatically, protesting to the stealing of his food, at which Audrey rolled her eyes.
"PRESENTS!" she yelled as a war cry, and all five of them ran towards the tree in the living room, while both of the parents cried with laughter at the children, making their way over to the tree as well.
"This is yours, and this is yours. Pete take this, and Audrey take this," Remus said handing out the presents to the four.
James tore his package, from Mia and Fleamont, open hurriedly, revealing the newest broom polishing kit.
"This is wicked! Thank you mum and dad," he exclaimed, his eyes travelling the entire box carefully.
Remus then went on with his present from Audrey. He tore open the wrapping paper, and from it, emerged a book. Not just any book. The first version of his favourite book.
The Great Gatsby.
He stared at it, speechless, his mouth hanging open.
"I- Aud, how- when did you even- how did you," he stuttered out before letting out a sigh, a huge grin appearing on his face as he went ahead and pulled Audrey into a hug.
"Thank you, so much," he whispered, the girl being the only one in the room being able to hear him. She laughed softly.
"Your very welcome Rem," she said with a smile, breaking up the hug.
About fifteen minutes later, the entire room was filled with torn wrapping paper, and a plethora of gifts lying around everywhere.
"Wait, we didn't get any gifts from you two," Peter said, looking at James and Sirius. The boys immediately looked at each other with a grin, and ran into the kitchen. They emerged outside with a cardboard box in their hands.
"Now, you see we weren't exactly free these holidays. Hence, we couldn't do a ton of Christmas shopping. Be grateful for what you get, and don't crib," Sirius said addressing the three children who looked at him with highly confused, yet somewhat intrigued looks. Mia and Fleamont had already gone out of the room, having to attend to urgent Ministry matters.
"Remus." Sirius called out, to which the boy nodded, a slight grin on his face.
"These are muggle drinks called cola, and lemon- lime," Sirius said, handing the two drinks into the Lupin's hands, as he looked at them highly confused.
"Pete, this is for you. Chewing gum." James said handing the boy two packs of 'Bazooka's bubble gum'. The boy looked at them with a confused expression his mouth hanging slightly open.
"Now, as for you Aud, we got you, socks!" Sirius said with a bright smile, looking quite proud of himself.
"I- you got us drinks, chewing gum and socks for Christmas?" she asked in disbelief.
