Soon, the five reached Hogwarts. They quickly clambered out of the scarlet steam engine and hurried towards a giant man with a wild shaggy beard and long tangled hair.
"Firs'- years over here. Let's go, come on, we don' 'ave all day! I'm Hagrid, the groundskeeper a' Hogwarts," he boomed and started walking.
They quickly started walking behind him but had to jog to keep up with his gigantic figure. They made their way to what a few of the students called the Black Lake.
"No mor' than 4 in one!" Hagrid boomed yet again.
"You guys go ahead, I'll catch another one," Audrey said smiling at them.
"You sure?" Remus asked softly.
She nodded and set off to find another boat. After a little bit of searching, she found a group of two friends, a girl with a sassy attitude and hair just as blond as Audrey's and another one with an empathetic attitude and a distant dreamy look in her beady dazzling eyes.
"Er, do you mind if I sit with you guys in the boat?" Audrey asked politely.
"No, not at all!" the blond-haired girl said, smiling brightly.
Audrey grinned in return as well.
She slowly and steadily made her way onto the boat. As soon as all of the students were settled in, the boats started rowing on their own and she heard Hagrid call out to them.
"Yeh'll get yer firs' sight o' Hogwarts in a second now," he said.
As soon as the castle came into view, the whole lot of first years erupted into an awestruck, "Oooo,".
As soon as they saw the magnificent castle basking in all its glory in the deep purple sky, their mouth fell open in awe and their eyes widened in shock. Its numerous beautiful towers and turrets added to its exquisiteness. It seemed exactly like what Audrey had imagined when she was a small kid, of about five years of age when her mother read her stories of faraway lands, with glorious castles and this was nothing short of a dream for her.
"Wo-w," was the only thing she managed to stammer out.
The dreamy girl, Alice Fortescue, smiled a gentle smile, tilting her head.
"Shit, this crap's amazing," the blond, Marlene breathed out.
Audrey let out a short laugh. Before they could do anything else, the lantern-lit boats came to a halt. The group finally made their way off of the boats, on Hagrid's orders, and started walking towards the entrance of the castle.
'Hey Aud!" she heard her brother call out from behind her. As soon as she looked behind her, she saw James running towards her.
"Forgot me so quickly?" he asked in mock hurt, slinging an arm over her sister's shoulder.
"You are not the most memorable person on the planet, you know..." she said, smirking and mirroring his action.
He just laughed, shaking his head. Till then, the other three had caught up with them.
She beckoned Marlene and Alice to come over towards their group.
"Guys, this is Alice and Marlene," Audrey said introducing the girls to the boys.
"Oh, hi, I- I'm, er..." James started flustered.
"James Potter," Audrey whispered in his ear.
"Right! My name is James Potter, right, sorry," he said, embarrassed.
"Sorry, he gets a little ditzy around girls," Audrey said, unable to suppress her smile. James glared at her and hastily apologized.
