February 15th.
Gryffindor vs. Slytherin."And the ball is passed to James Potter, who has still managed to stay on his broom, despite his abnormally large head which would have thrown him off balance," Remus Lupin's voice echoed through the ground and James Potter looked at him before flipping him off with a sarcastic smile. The stadium erupted into laughs, even the players taking a moment before the tension resumed.
"Mister Lupin!" McGonagall's voice yelled at in the general direction of the boy.
"Sorry professor," he replied in an unapologetic tone before focusing on the game.
"The quaffle is passed to Niven," cheers from the Gryffindor side of the stadium, "But is intercepted by Goldstein,", cheers from the Slytherin side.
"Emma Bell takes a hold of the quaffle, racing through the players, and she SCORES! SUCK ON THAT BITCHES!" Remus' amplified voice boomed through the ground. Sirius turned to give him a look of false disapproval, while Professor McGonagall might have just fainted. Cheers filled the stadium, students enjoying the commentary more than the match.
"Gryffindor leads by 10 points, Anaya Goldstein in possession of the quaffle, and... she scores,". Thunderous clapping from the emerald side of the field followed as James continued to stab himself with an imaginary knife.
"Gryffindor and Slytherin in a brutal tie. Potter in possession of the quaffle and- knocked out by a bludger. Thanks a fucking ton Nott," the Lupin announced with an annoyed roll of his eyes.
"Who in their right mind let Lupin become a commentator?" Audrey asked in the general direction of Sirius, who grinned in return.
"Minnie's regretting the decision now, trust me," he replied, and Audrey grinned back, before focusing back onto the game.
"It's on you now Aud," the Lupin boy announced with a deep sigh, and the scarlet end of the stands erupted into loud cheers, encouraging the team. Lily, Marlene, and Peter stood up from their seats, cheering on the team loudly, so did Alice and Frank from a few seats away.
Between a whirl of scarlet and emerald robes, Regulus Black caught sight of a tiny golden ball fluttering near the ear of Theodore Nott.
He immediately zoomed past the players paying no heed to who he was hurting, no matter the team. Audrey caught sight of the younger Black brother, ruthlessly making his way through the crowd, the determination in his granite eyes similar to hers on the quidditch pitch.
He had spotted the snitch.
Audrey raced after him, maneuvering the pitch comfortably, and catching up with him with ease. He glanced at her quickly, and rolled his head focusing his gaze back onto the snitch, annoyed that the Potter had figured out his technique. He pushed out a strand of his jet black hair from where it had fallen over his cheekbones. She smirked in return, and caught sight of the snitch herself, her attention back onto the game.
"You are annoyingly good at this," he said.
"Well, there has to be a reason I'm on the team," she replied cockily.
He rolled his eyes, and the edges of his lips turned up, a ghost of a smile on his sharp features.
Audrey quickly flew past him, gaining speed, the flow of the air helping her massively. Black did the same, and soon they were neck to neck again.
"We're going to win, you do realise that, yes?" she asked, attempting to throw him off his game.
"What makes you say that Potter?" he asked, his eyes still focused on the snitch which seemed to be flying away at a very intense speed.
"We have a better seeker," she whispered against his ear leaning in for a moment, before speeding up again, leaving him behind. He smirked in return, a little less annoyed. He raced upto the girl again.
From the other end of the pitch, Sirius Black was intently watching his brother and Audrey engaging in conversation, both of them unable to keep the smirks off of their faces. He clenched his jaw in anger, and sent a bludger flying forcefully towards Regulus.
Several things happened in three seconds.
First, James Potter successfully scored, and the entire stadium went up in cheers, scarlet flags being waved intensely.
Second, Regulus Black immediately swerved towards the right, on his way to catch the snitch.
Third, Audrey Potter, taken aback by the Black's action, stopped in mid-air.
Right where Sirius sent his bludger. Her leg collided painfully with the cold iron ball, sending her off balance and she let out a sharp cry. Half of the stadium went wild, cheering loudly, waving emerald green flags, while the other groaned in disappointment. Only a few noticed the Potter falling to the ground.
The first person to jump into action was Regulus. He was the closest to her, and the only one wanting to help. Nott and Malfoy just stood with smirks on their faces, and Ananya, Sirius, James, and Robert along with the rest of the Gryffindor team was on the other end of the pitch, too far away for help. He raced towards the girl, the tiny snitch trapped in his glove-covered hand. Black put an arm around her waist, steadying her. She put a hand on her broom, leading it down to the snowy pitch. As soon as she neared the pitch, she stumbled again, falling onto the snow, her leg giving out completely.
As soon as James and Sirius watched the younger Black land next to her, they jumped into action as well. Remus and Peter accompanied by Lily, Marlene and Alice raced towards the hurt Potter from the stands.
"I'm pretty sure that we have the better seeker," Regulus whispered in her ear leaning in incredibly close. Audrey rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the smirk off of her face.
"You got lucky," she whispered back, and Regulus grinned before making his way back inside the castle, releasing the snitch without looking behind him, which was caught skillfully by Madam Hooch.
James and Sirius landed next to her on the pitch, and Madame Pomfrey made her way to the girl, removing kids from the pathway.
"Hey, you okay?" Sirius asked, his voice trembling slightly looking at the wound on her leg.
"I've seen worse Black. I'm okay," she replied with a reassuring smile.
Robert walked to his girlfriend, mildly irritated at the fact that Slytherin had won the house cup. Nonetheless, he pushed through the crowd, reaching Audrey.
"Someone, get her to the Hospital Wing. Now," she commanded once she was done inspecting Audrey's injuries.
"We'll help her out," Lily said, and Audrey swung an arm around Lily, and one around Marlene, the girls supporting the Potter as they made their way off of the pitch as quickly as possible.
Sirius turned to Robert hesitantly.
"I still don't like you, but Audrey would want you there with her," he muttered.
"Erm, you go ahead. I think I'm gonna hop in the shower and clean up," he replied looking at the ground. Fury flashed in the Black's eyes.
"What? That's your fucking girlfriend! She almost crushed her foot, Godric knows what injuries she's suffering from, and you are 'going to hop in the shower !?"
Wood kept his gaze down, scratching the back of his head guiltily.
Sirius angrily sighed. "Fuck it," he said, pushing past the boy, roughly hitting his shoulder, before breaking into a run to the Hospital Wing.
