The police arrived. The ambulance also arrived and we immediately took Brandon to the hospital. Nanginginig ang mga kamay ko habang hawak hawak ko ang kanyang kamay na nababalot ng dugo. My tears didn't stop as I watched his unconscious face. Nasa tabi ko ang kanyang ina na umiiyak rin.
I was so scared. The blood I see on his body makes me shiver. His unconscious face made me cry even more for fear that he might never wake up. That he'll go to sleep forever and never wake up again. Natatakot akong baka hindi ko na makita pa ang magaganda niyang mga mata.
Pero alam kong kaya niya. Alam kong maliit lang para sa kanya ito. Alam kong makakaligtas siya! Humagulgol ako at mas lalong hinigpitan ang kapit sa kanyang kamay.
Tinakbo si Brandon sa ospital. Hindi ako mapakali habang nakaupo sa bench, naghihintay sa labas ng operating room. Nandito si Mommy, Daddy, lolo at ang parents ni Brandon na sina Alexandra at Matthew Monteza. Umiiyak ang ina ni Brandon at hindi rin mapakali. Pinapakalma siya ni Matthew Monteza kahit namumula na rin ang kanyang mga mata at matigas ang pagkakatagis ng bagang.
Lumabas ang lalaking doctor pagkatapos ng halos isa't kalahating oras. Napatayo agad kami lalo na ako at lumapit sa doctor. Nanginginig pa rin ako dahil sa nangyari.
"W-We're Brandon's family. How is he?" Alexandra Monteza asked immedietley, still crying.
"He's in a good condition, Mrs. Monteza. He was shot in the shoulder and now we will just wait for him to wake up. We will move him to a private room," the doctor said.
"K-Kailan magigising ang anak ko?"
"We don't know but it won't take a week. Maybe after one, two or three days. We just need to wait. He's already fine."
Para akong nabunutan ng tinik sa sinabi ng doctor. Pumasok ang dalawang Monteza habang hindi ko alam kung papasok rin ba ako o hindi. I don’t know how his parents would feel about me now that I'm the reason why he was shot. They might get mad at me when I go inside but I don't want to leave Brandon here.
"Anak..." lumapit si Mommy sa akin.
Nakaharap pa rin ako sa pintuan na nakasarado na at umiiyak. Hinawakan ni Mommy ang aking balikat dahilan para mapaharap ako sa kanya.
"It's okay. Brandon will be okay. For now go home first--"
"No..." I immediately said and shook my head. "I'm not leaving here..."
"Pero, anak... you need to rest. You can come back here tomorrow. Brandon's already fine..."
"I'm not leaving Brandon. I'm not leaving here..." I insisted while my voice's almost cracking.
"Cassandra, you can visit tomorrow. Get some rest for now. We will talk to the Montezas about what happened," si lolo.
Umiling ako, ayaw pa ring pumayag. I will not leave Brandon! I just want to be here! I want to stay by his side! Gusto kong ako ang makita niya kapag gumising siya. Dito lang ako!
"Cassandra..." malungkot na mga mata ang binigay sa akin ni Mommy.
"Dito lang po ako... please, Mom?" tumingin ako sa kanya.
She sighed. She was about to speak when Alexandra and Matthew Monteza came out. Mukhang ililipat na si Brandon sa mas magandang kwarto. Kumalabog ang puso ko nang nagtama ang mga mata namin ni Alexandra Monteza.
"M-Ma'am, I'm sorry for what happened. I-It's my fault--" I immediately apologized and approached her.
"No... it's not your fault, hija..." she said.
