As you were riding on the horses side by side with Jean. The whole squad was silent from all the death of the soilders. You could see the firmiliar tall walls.

A cart was being pulled, piled high with bodies. The sun was setting slowly.

You gripped the reins tight as the deaths dawned on you. Should you think you were a lucky one? Was that selfish?

Jean slapped you gently over the head. "Stop looking so glum, we made it out alive."

That made you feel even worse, "but they didn't. So we aren't so lucky."

Jean bit the inside of his mouth for making you look even more sad. He really wanted the person he liked to smile. But he knew that was hard in such a miserable situation.

He looked around the plain, trees and endless grass. He moved his horse away from you and had his stead gallop away to a section of random grass.

"Jean?"

He jumped down and by his movements you could tell he picked something. He got back on the saddle and rode back to you, rain started to splatter so you were made to put your hoods on.

When he was closer he handed you a single, red flower he'd plucked. A small blush heated his skin, "uh...I thought this might cheer up."

You managed a half smile at his feeble attempt. You grabbed the small flower and placed it in the breast pocket of your jacket.

"Thanks for trying." You slapped your horses reins.

He sighed. "Why do I bother?"

"Jean." His attention snapped to you the moment you said his name. "I mean it, you're amazing."

He went a bright pink, "w-well I'd have done it for anyone!" This time your smile crinkled your eyes.

"Mhm." Sasha and Connie were giggling at Jean's embarrassment.

"Shut up you two!"
