You try to suppress a shiver and pull your shawl closer to your body.

Today is especially hot evening even for Liyue.
Yet, you're shivering.

Your parents are hugging you and your whole family is finally together.
Yet, you've never felt worse.

You're wearing the well-known red dress, for which any woman of your age would kill - your wedding dress.
Yet, you can't stop your tears.

Today is the day everyone in your village was dreading.
Today, the God of the Sea, the Overlord of Vortex, is coming here for his new bride.

Every year, your village prepares a bride for their God, in exchange for his Blessing - another year without tsunamis. No-one actually knows what happens to the brides, but seeing him return every year, it's safe to assume they don't live for a long time.
You understand the need to sacrifice someone for the sake of others, but as selfish as it sounds, you believed you'd avoid this fate.

You feel a slight tug on your dress and you notice your mother pinning a golden ornament laid with precious gemstones on your chest. Her hands are trembling just like yours and you decide to finally look around the room.
Everyone's expression matches yours and you feel your heart drop.

You close your eyes and slowly inhale.
You must be strong. For their sake.

The entire village walks you to the beach that once was your place to run away from your problems.
Your gaze falls on the boat decorated with pearls - on the boat that will take you to your new home.

Your parents hug you for the last time and you slowly get on board.

Before you can gather the strength to break the silence, the waves grow stronger and in a moment, the sea swallows you whole.

When you open your eyes again, you find yourself in a dimly lit cave, the water slowly dripping through the ceiling.
The first thing you notice is the fact your clothes along with your complicated hairstyle are still perfectly dry, as if you weren't in the depths of the sea.

After what felt like eternity, you finally decide to leave the small boat and walk through the corridor right in front of you.

You start getting goosebumps - you're not sure if it's because of the cold walls of the cave, or because of the fear of meeting your groom. You suspect it's a mixture of both.

To your dismay, it doesn't take long to reach the end of the corridor, and you find yourself in what seems like a drawing room lit up by more candles than you've ever seen - there isn't any natural light, after all.

Your gaze wonders over the dark furniture, until it falls on the... man sitting in one of the chairs.

"Finally, I started to wonder whether you forgot how to walk." He scoffs, waving his folding fan in front of his face.

His red eyes bore into your soul, while his fingers, too long for an ordinary human, tap into the armrest of the chair in a rhythm only he recognized. Seeing his long light blue hair gently float around him as if submerged in water that isn't there, you finally come in terms with the fact this is now your groom - Osial, the Overlord of Vortex.

"You're pretty talkative, aren't you?" Osial says, sarcasm dripping from every word. He closes his fan and in a flash, your groom to be looms over you, his cold fingers - which seem to have one more joint than human ones - cupping your face. You suspect he must be at least 2 meters tall.
