"Are you feeling better?"
It takes you a moment to even register Albedo's question. Despite the endless shivering with cold you just nod and look into the fire before you.
Being the Adventurer without a Vision, it was more than expected to end up on a missions no-one wants. And the place no-one in their right minds would like to be in? That's right, the infamous Dragonspine.
But after meeting the young alchemist, you quickly realized having to dress in more layers than usual isn't that bad of a deal and decided to sign up for the Dragonspine Team.
What you didn't expect was being thrown into a river by an exploding slime and almost dying of hypothermia.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for someone to find you.
Unfortunately, your finder was none other than Albedo.
Saying you developed a crush on him during your daily travels around here would be an understatement. Thus him seeing you almost falling asleep in the snow without a care in the world was the worst thing that could happened to you.
Thankfully, he hadn't mentioned any of it - it's Albedo, after all.
"Take these clothes. Timaeus forgot them here, but I think they should fit you." Was the only thing he said before handing you the pile of clothes and a blanket.
You open your mouth to thank him, but a sound of footsteps stop you.
"I'm sorry I'm late!"
Hearing the high-pitched voice makes your heart drop.
"Don't worry, you're not late. After all, I haven't even told you when to come."
You don't even need to look up to know who it is.
"Oh, hi Y/N!" To your dismay, she squeaks.
"Hey Sucrose." You greet her with a painfully fake smile.
If she noticed it she didn't react, instead she walks closer to her master.
"Master Albedo, I have the research you wanted right here with me. It's just as you said, the soil in those places is way more fertile than-"
Their conversation starts being too much difficult for your mind to keep up, just like always.
"Let's leave this discussion for later, please. We have a guest here, after all." Albedo says and you could swear he smiled your way.
"No, no, it's fine, really. Don't mind me, I need to get back anyway." You try to get up, but you're quickly stopped by the most beautiful voice in the world.
"I still don't think you're ready to go back. You need to stay here and rest."
You open your mouth to disagree, but you think better of it. You know you couldn't argue with him, so you just sit back and try to swallow any discomfort you feel.
"As you can see, this carrot had grown in the place right around there, but the next one, which-"
'This is a torture.' You think to yourself.
Watching those two talk more and more, you can feel tears forming in the corners of your eyes.
There is no way you can be this close to Albedo like Sucrose is.
You don't know anything about alchemy nor any other science, you're only an Adventurer without Vision.
Seeing Albedo getting closer to Sucrose to look at her research she's explaining makes your heart hurt.
For how long do they know each other? It must be years, if not more. Meanwhile you have known Albedo for not even half a year.
Suddenly, you hear a loud squeak. Before you can even register what's going on, Albedo quickly catches the falling test tube before it can shatter on the ground.
"I'm so sorry I accidentally knocked it over!"
"No need to apologize, just be more careful in the future."
The two of them share a smile and you can't control your tears anymore.
Thankfully, both of the alchemists are way too occupied to notice you, so you just let your tears silently fall on your blanket.

"I think I should get going." Says Sucrose, which you take as a sign to wipe your tears.
They say their good-byes and with a wave of her hand to you, she's gone.
"It's really gotten late now. One more minute and they send a rescue team." You laugh, trying to mask the way your voice cracked, "Thanks for, well, saving me."
You're prepared to walk out of the cave, but something stops you.
"Wait," Albedo exclaims, while holding your hand, "are you alright?"
You only nod, not having the energy to look him in the eyes.
"You're a bad liar, Y/N." You can feel him getting closer to you.
"I noticed you act like this everytime Sucrose is around." He starts and you can feel your soul leaving your body.
Some time passes before the damned question echoes around the cave;
"Are you jealous?"
You just stand there in a shock. You wanted to laugh it off, but no words came out of your mouth.
"You two just seem to be really close, that's all." You finally say, still looking everywhere but into his eyes.
You hear him chuckle. "Well yes, I suppose. But only as a teacher and student. She's really amazing alchemist and even better student, but that's all there is to it."
Even after the explanation, you still have your doubts.
"You don't believe me?"
You quickly turn to look at him. Of course you believed him, you know very well he would never lie.
But before you can say anything, his lips meet yours.
It was a quick kiss, but lovely nonetheless.
"Is this enough of a proof?" He asks, a soft smile dancing on his lips.
You can't help but return the smile, while nodding and pulling him into a hug.
Who would have thought that the worst day of your life turns out to be this amazing?
