Albedo & Treasure Hoarder | Failed Experiment

So.
Here you are.
You stare on both of your boyfriends in disbelief.
What the hell happened here?
"I assume you have some questions." Albedo states, the weird objects on his head twitching.

"'Course she has questions you idiot!" Alexander screams, looking quite literally like an angry cat.

"To put it simply, all of this is the result of a failed experiment." He explains while ignoring the red-haired man next to him.

"So, you were experimenting." You repeat, trying to understand the whole thing.
"Yes."
"And, the experiment failed."
"That is correct."
"And now both of you are... Catboys?"
"It seems so."

"Can you stop being so calm, for fucks sake?!"
Alexander shouts, to which Albedo ignores him just like before.

"I'm just stating the facts. After all, panicking doesn't solve anything."
Suddenly, Alexander shots up and grabs Albedo by the collar of his shirt.
"I sure as hell don't care about the facts! Just turn me back to normal!"

You've never seen Alexander this angry before. You quickly get closer to them, the thought of calming your boyfriend down being the only thing on your mind.
Having no actual clue how to achieve this, you start to pat his head without thinking.
Both you and Alexander freeze.
What am I doing?
You mentally punch yourself.
Before you can put your hand away, Alexander slowly releases Albedo and leans into your touch.
Huh, I didn't expect that.
It doesn't take long for him to lower his ears and close his eyes.

"I can't turn us back to normal, but the effect should fade away very soon." You quickly look at Albedo, who acts like nothing even happened.

"Are you okay?" You ask him, to which he just straighten up his shirt.

"Of course I am. Both of us are just thrown off by the result, that's all."

You're sure asking him again would be as useless as waiting for Dragonspine to melt, so you decide to extend your hand and pet your other boyfriend too.

What you didn't expect was to hear a weird sound.
You instinctively jerk your hand away, to which you lock eyes with embarrassed-looking Albedo.
It doesn't take you too long to put two and two together and you can feel your smile growing larger.
Before Albedo can say something, you start petting him again.
The noise is back, just like you expected.

Albedo is actually purring.

"Aww, does it feel nice?" Albedo just rolls his eyes at your teasing, but leans closer to you.

Before you know it, all three of you are cuddling each other, you being in the middle.
You've never felt more content than now.

Some time passes with all of you like this, when suddenly Alexander sighs, breaking the silence.

"I, uh.." He starts, to which both you and Albedo turn to look at him.
"...sorry for - well - acting like that before."

Albedo blinks.
You're sure he's as surprised as you to actually hear your dear thief apologizing.

"There's no need to apologize. You were just scared and rightfully so."

"No, I-!" Alexander pauses, trying to get his voice more under control, "It doesn't matter how I felt, I still shouldn't act like that."

After that, he lays his head down on your shoulder again, avoiding eye contact. "So, sorry."

You and Albedo exchange looks.
Something is going on.

"Alex?" You try, gently rubbing his back, "Is everything okay?"

There's a long pause before Alexander speaks again. "I just don't want to hurt you, you know?"
"...I don't wanna be like my old man." He almost whispers the last part and you can feel your heart breaking for this poor man.

Alexander talks about his childhood only rarely, and from what you've heard, you can clearly see why. His father was obsessed with the thought of becoming rich, so it only makes sense he joined a gang of Treasure Hoarders. Alexander, being just a child at that time and thus the smallest, was a valuable member too - there wasn't a place he wouldn't fit in, after all.
When searching for treasures didn't go as planned, his father would get angry, and he'd direct this anger at Alex.

"You don't need to worry about such thing. You want to change, and that's what matters the most." Albedo takes Alex's hand into his and starts rubbing his knuckles.

You only hum in agreement and hug his side.
Thankfully, Alexander returns the hug and buries his head in your neck.

It doesn't take long for Albedo to join the hug and the atmosphere quickly changes into a comfortable silence once again, the only sound being the crackling of the fire and purring from both of the men.

"I love you guys so much." You whisper, hugging them tighter.

"..me too." Albedo whispers, and you can't hide your smile any longer.

"Yeah, I love myself too."

"Oh come on, Alex-!"
