"Hey Albedo.."
"Yes, Traveler?" The man in question turned his head in your direction, gently putting down his sketchbook in the process. Everytime your eyes meet his blue ones, you feel like you could drown in them.
"You're quite good in alchemy, right?" You ask before you could stop yourself.
Really smooth, Y/N.
You thank Gods Paimon isn't here with you at this moment.
Albedo slowly blinked before answering in his usual monotone voice: "Yes, I suppose. Why, do you need something?"
You decide to look away before you could make more of a fool of yourself, breaking the eye contact.
"Yes, actually. Do you think you could do a Boom?"
Clearly, looking away didn't help.
"If I could do... a Boom?" At this point, Albedo doesn't even try to mask his confusion.
"Yes, you know," You make 'Boom' motion with hands, "a Boom."
"I'm.. Sorry, but I think you should go to Klee with a bomb request." Albedo decides dodging your wish is the best course of actions.
"No, no, no! I don't want a bomb!"
You quickly declare, waving your hands before your face.
Albedo now gives you his full attention again, his big eyes searching yours.
"I meant some kind of fireworks actually." You explain the situation, to which the young alchemist in question only nods.
"I see. This makes more sense. After all, today is the New Years Eve, isn't it."
You decide to just nod and observe the wall of a cave.
No-one is blaming you, it's really interesting wall.
"In that case," the blonde man continues, "I don't mind making you some."
"Really? Thanks a bunch!" If happiness could be turned into electricity, you'd lit up the whole Teyvat.
He makes his way to his desk and you are sure you caught a glimpse of his smile.
When he turns back to you, he gives you a piece of paper with some notes scribbled on it.
"However, I need these ingredients. You should not have any problem finding it in this region. Could you get it for me, Traveler?" How could you even say 'No' to this man with a voice so sweet and eyes so deep?
If he only called me by my name..
You quickly get this thought out of your mind. So what if he has called you only 'Traveler' since you two met? This fact doesn't change anything. Well, it's not like you two spend much time together. Only every other day or so. It's nothing weird, really.
You decide not to dwell on this topic more and start looking for the ingredients in question.×<•--------•>×
"Oh, you're-" The handsome alchemist's eyes stop to stare at you for a second, "-back. Are you alright?"
His reaction didn't surprise you. Getting the materials wasn't an easy task and your clothes had it written all over them.
You stare at him for a moment, your tired brain trying to process what is happening. Then you take out a bag from your clothes, which is now soaked with Hilichurl's blood and water from being thrown in the lake by some Treasure Hoarders, and put it on a table.
"Materials." You mumble as an explanation. Albedo gives you more concerned look, but you don't register it. You're sure you're dying of hypothermia, after all.
"Here, have this," You look at him, only to see him holding his coat, "I don't want you to freeze here."
You quickly change your jacket for his coat. He then guides you to a fire where both of you sit down. No-one is saying anything, but it's the comfortable kind of a silence. You can help it but stare at the man next to you. You can see how the flames dance in his eyes, how the wind moves his perfectly styled hair.
Suddenly, he breaks the silence: "I need to start working now. Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it."
You wanted to remind him that all of this was your idea, but for maybe the first time in your life you couldn't find your voice. You decide to just nod and look in the fire once more.
The warmth in this place, your tiredness from looking for the materials and the repeating sound of Albedo working makes falling asleep much easier.×<•--------•>×
First thing you notice when you wake up is the fact you're no longer laying on a ground. You open your eyes to find yourself in a sleeping bag. Before you can start asking yourself about this situation, you hear his voice.
"Oh, you're awake, just in time. I actually finished those fireworks a moment ago."
You quickly get up, giving him a warm 'Thank you's and start observing the explosives with a closer look.
"It's already dark, but I can help you find your way from this mountain. If we go now, you'll be able to get back to Mondstadt before the midnight."
You stare at him before the words he said sink in.
"I thought... We celebrate this day together, actually." You say, feeling your heart sink in your stomach. You quickly curse yourself for even saying it out loud.
Now it's time for Albedo to stare at you.
Before you can add anything, the young alchemist speaks again;
"Is that's so? I haven't thought about this possibility. I... Wouldn't mind having some company though."
If you didn't know him, you could swear his red cheeks wasn't the fire's fault.
Both of you break the eye contact, Albedo looking at his watch, you studying your favorite wall yet again.
"Actually, I know about one nice place. It's kind of far away from here, but if we go now, we should be there on time." He says, to which you only nod and suddenly remember you still have his coat.
By his reaction, you could say he also forgot about letting you borrow it.
"Right, your jacket. It should be dry at this point."
Thankfully, he was right just like always.×<•--------•>×
"We're here, right on time."
You start to think every alchemist has some kind of clock built in their body.
You can't help it but stare at the sight in front of you. Albedo took you to a place almost on top of the mountain that you've never seen before. Thanks to rocks and trees surrounding the area there was almost no wind, even in this height.
"Hey, look!" You point in a direction of Mondstadt, which is nothing than a little dot from here. Suddenly, the sky on top of the city lits up with many different colors.
Albedo makes his way to a spot further from you and begins the preparation. Before you know it, the sky before you two lits up as well.
You catch yourself looking more at the man sitting next to you than on the fireworks.
"I'm afraid I don't have any champagne we could drink." He mentions, turning his head to look at you.
"Don't worry, I don't mind."
At your words, Albedo gently smiles and slowly takes your hand in his.
"Fortunately, the champagne isn't the only New Years tradition." He leans closer to you, to which your heart beats faster than ever before.
Your eyes glance on his lips and you repeat his action.
They look so soft.
Your lips slowly melt into each other.
"Happy New Year, Y/N." He whispers, his eyes full of love.
"Happy New Year."
