Spencer leaned closer to the mirror, gently blending the concealer under her eyes. She hadn't been getting much sleep recently but for the best reasons. For the last 2 weeks, Toby had not left her side. He'd been there when she woke up, went to sleep, and almost every hour in between. His stuff was now crowded into the barn before he moved to start working on a homeless project in Philly. Where he was moving to, he didn't know yet but right now he didn't want to think about moving away from Spencer, even if it was still in the same town.
In the last 2 weeks, Spencer had only left him to see her friends and today she was saying bye to Aria with the other girls before she went on her honeymoon.
She'd left her boyfriend (it felt SO GOOD to be able to call him that again) asleep in bed after she'd tired him out last night and planned to get ready quietly and leave him to sleep.
Her plan didn't quite work as she felt Toby come up behind her and slip his arms around her waist. Her eyes flicked up to connect with his in the mirror.
"You weren't planning on sneaking out now, were you?" Toby asked seductively, breaking their eye contact and kissing her side of her head. Spencer smiled. "No..." she answered coyly, both of them knowing she was lying.
"Lying to a cop? I never thought you were that much of a bad girl." Toby responded, making eye contact with her in the mirror again.
"What can I say? I guess you just bring it out in me." Spencer murmured back, turning her head and kissing his jaw. Toby gently lifted her chin up and leaned in, kissing her softly on the lips.
"Come back to bed." he said quietly against her lips. Spencer kissed him again.
"Later, I'm going to see Aria off now." she answered, pulling away and going back to reflection.
"I don't get why you bother wearing makeup." Toby said, moving away from her and sitting down, watching her check for any flaws.
"Same reason everyone else does, makes me look better." Spencer replied and Toby's brow furrowed.
"You always look perfect." he argued.
"No, I don't. But you have a massive crush on me so you think I do." Spencer reasoned teasingly.
"When you say it like that it sounds like we're in elementary school." Toby rolled his eyes.
"Mmm, didn't deny it was true though." Spencer teased. Toby laughed.
"Because that would make me a huge liar." he answered.
Spencer grinned and bit her lip, turning to him. "I love you." she said and Toby smiled, opening his arms. Spencer walked over and wrapped her arms around his neck, his sliding around her waist. He was sitting so she was taller than him for once. Toby leaned up to kiss her. "I love you too, so much." he said between kisses.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to this." Spencer said, pulling away. Toby looked her questioningly.
"You, actually being here after I spent so long wishing for it. And feeling the way I do." she explained.
"How do you feel?" Toby asked.
"So happy..." Spencer answered, biting her lip again. "In fact, the happiest I've ever been." she confessed.
Toby pecked her lips. "I'm so proud of you." he told her and Spencer tilted her head to the side, silently asking him to explain.
"You've got through shit people couldn't even dream of. And you've come out the other side so strong that it blows my mind. How can you be so strong after so much hurt?" Toby asked, moving one hand from her waist to her cheek, gently moving a piece of her long chocolate hair to behind her ear. Spencer's heart melted, it was just a simple act of intimacy but so pure.
