I pant heavily, sweat dripping from every part of my body. My arms and legs carelessly sprawled out on the cold granite floor
A few small droplets of crimson liquid fell from my nose, and I'm pretty sure that my left arm is broken, but other than that
I'm okay
"Y'know, normally when defending one's honour, you don't take half, or all of the damage give to the bastard?" A sweet voice called out
Of course, just who I needed to see right?
I close my eyes and use my right arm to shield my eyes
"Y'know, I was having a really good daydream. There were strippers, drugs, alcohol and darts, and I'm pretty sure I had my index finger and my middle finger stuck up some girls-"
"Eww Jennie" Adelpha groans playfully, and I can hear her plop down next to me.
Even with my eyes closed I can feel her eyes boring into me
It's starting to piss me off
"What?" I huff, not moving my hand
Not yet
There's a small gap of silence, not uncomfortable silence, the type of silence in which something big should be revealed after it.
"What happened?" She asks slowly, as if approaching a wild cat in the street, a shaking hand stretched out as she crouches and tries to slowly approach it so it doesn't rip off her fingers
"Nothin, I-I just need to rest here for a bit" I lie, not wanting her to know.
Not now, not ever. I'll shield her from that all my life
"Cut the crap Jennie! You've been coming back every fucking day with either something broke or barely conscious. Who the fucks kicking your ass so bad that you just let them?!"
I feel the pain drip off her voice, the anger too.
I huff and smile bitterly, dropping my arm from my face. The second I do, I hear Adelpha gasp lightly, probably shocked at the mess that is my face right now
I feel her hand tuck gently into mine as she rubs clockwise circles on the back of my hand. I relax as the tension leaks out of my skin
"Please- I'm scared for you" She whispers, voice broken and teary
I look away from her direction, eyes threatening to water at the mere thought of the bitch's name
"Your Mom"
The room goes silent, no breathing, no faint noises of someone tapping at the floor. The birds aren't heard from down here anyways, but the sudden change in atmosphere made it seem like they were always here, watching the monstrosities unfold
"your lying" She mutters under her breath
"Why the fuck would I lie about that?" I spit bitterly, the little action making my chest constrict with pain
Fuck
Adelpha roughly lets go of my hand, and I don't have to look over to see the tears brimming her eyes, or the anger hidden behind the soft brown
"Because she fucking told you that I was straight?! I don't know why your lying Jennie, but I know your lying!" She shouts, and for the first time ever, I'm glad this place is soundproof
I turn my head straight, looking at the ceiling
"If you think that's what happening , be my guest. But when I end up beat to death down in this dingy little basement that only your Mother has key's too, don't forget to mention that I told you" I practically hiss, disbelief and hurt seeping out of straight anger
