7- Rush of Adrenaline!
"Hop in!" I call out to Phoenix while patting the seat beside me, indicating him to sit there.
"FAST! PEOPLE ARE WAITING BEHIND YOU", I try to hurry him."I-", Phoenix gulps and sits next to me. He looked as if he was regretting all his life decisions at that moment.
The line for the ride was pretty short. We didn't have to stand for long. There weren't many people, maybe because the roller coaster looked a little bit too scary. Yes... you could say that.
"Pfft", I smirk looking at Phoenix.
"WHAT'RE YOU LAUGHING AT", He yelps.
"Yo are you sure you can handle this?... If you're that scared you could not ride-"
"NO! I'M NOT!" He snaps at me and sits down.
"Okay. Let's go!!!" I squeak in excitement.
The managers of the ride started checking whether all the people had fastened their safety belts. To be honest, I've been a fan of scary rides. It was my thing. I loved heights and I'm always down to just randomly jump off a cliff into the ocean. I'm a sucker for the adrenaline kick I get out of these activities. My dad is a big fan of this too but my mom... well let's just say she's more like Natasha.
"Hey..." Phoenix whispers.
"You talking to me?"
"WHO ELSE WOULD I BE TALKING TO?"
"I don't know Nixy, imaginary people?", I laughed.
He sighed.
"Listen, I usually go on these kinds of rides with my brother. Never alone..."
"Cool?"
"The thing is..."
"Yeah?"
"Well... you see, I just..."
"Continue-"
-and just when I said that the countdown starts.
"Quickly! Spill it!" I rush him.
Before the voice could come out of his mouth, the ride goes on.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH", He screamed in horror while I screamed with joy.
Phoenix suddenly grabbed my hand and grips it tightly. I was awestruck.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I JUST NEED TO CLING ON TO SOMEONE DURING THESE KINDS OF RIDES! IT'S A HABIT! SO DON'T THINK ANYTHING ELSE!" He yelled.
His grip tightened.
Wow-what a lovely habit, I thought to myself.
"OKAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" I shouted.
My heart pumped faster and harder. This was too much to handle. My concentration was more on his hand in mine rather than the crazy ride.
My breathing rhythm went wonky. That has never happened before, not even when I tried sky diving.
Every part of me was beating. Was it the ride or him? I asked myself.
I looked down from the ride but I didn't feel anything. Then I turned my head towards the shrieking Phoenix Gray and my heart kicked into palpitation mode.
Definitely him. I answered the earlier question.
Adrenaline was definitely doing its job, maybe a little too well.
"YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY", I gave a long scream out of happiness.
That felt much better.
